MotherOfMonkeys0 · 28/04/2022 20:27

Looking for recommendations please. Love having a series to watch together. We have loved -
Stranger Things
Modern Family
Friends
Heartlands

She also loves Hunger Games and Divergent films (and books).

Any suggestions? Thanks

Gilmore Girls, Derry Girls, Emily in Paris, Superstore…?

teenagetantrums · 28/04/2022 20:31

If she liked friends what about big bang theory. My teenager girl made me watch this many years ago she also loved friends

Whatafool123 · 28/04/2022 20:34

We watched Malory Towers and both enjoyed it, if that isn’t too young for her. We also watched Motherland which she enjoyed, although there is swearing so not everyone’s cup of tea. Derry Girls too, though again swearing. Call the Midwife maybe? Also Miranda.

PollyDarton2 · 28/04/2022 20:34

Oh what about Buffy? On All4.

Desperate Housewives? A bit more adult but I think still acceptable.

WandaVision maybe if she’s a fan of Marvel?

Ugly Betty? New Girl?

SellFridges · 28/04/2022 20:36

DD11 enjoyed Brooklyn 99 after Friends. She’s looking for a new suggestion so I might use some of these. I suggested Dawson’s Creek but apparently it’s just gone from Netflix

YellowHpok · 28/04/2022 20:37

Ghosts on BBC is hilarious

MotherOfMonkeys0 · 28/04/2022 20:47

Great, thank you. I think Buffy or Derry Girls could be a goer. She's watched all the Marvel ones with her dad.
Will check out Ghosts too.
We've tried some of the others and she wasnt keen. Wondering if Cobra Kai might be good too though maybe the 80s humour/references would be lost on her

Young Sheldon
Parks and Recreation
Sabrina the teenage Witch is now on one of the streaming sites
The 1% Club (gameshow on sat night)
The Cube
Super Nanny USA

onemouseplace · 28/04/2022 20:50

Ghosts.
Friday Night Dinner if you don't mind a bit (quite a lot actually) of swearing.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/04/2022 20:50

If you can find Moone Boy on any of the streaming sites that's brilliant!

LollyLol · 28/04/2022 20:52

Young sheldon (rated 15 for obscure reasons)
Winx Club
Never Have I Ever
Superstore
Raising Dion
Ugly Betty (bit hit)

RosieLemonadeAndSugar · 28/04/2022 21:09

Pretty little liars with my nearly 13 year old!

liveforsummer · 29/04/2022 05:41

Watching pretty little liars with dd12 atm. Also watched Ginny and Georgia which dd started watching alone was great although I dropped the ball in checking if it was appropriate- seemed a teen drama but a couple of scenes probably not appropriate for age. She also loves NCIS although I'm bored of watching that now, there are too many.

WindyKnickers · 29/04/2022 06:01

My DD (11) isn't ready for some of these yet and her younger brothers are always in earshot! However she has really enjoyed watching the Sewing Bee and Masterchef recently.

Knotanothernut · 29/04/2022 20:17

If she can handle Stranger Things then maybe The Umbrella Academy? Two series and a third on the way.

Others we love are the fantasy show Shadow & Bone and new family sci-fi The Last Bus - all on Netflix.

Hermanfromguesswho · 29/04/2022 20:21

Brooklyn 99
friday night dinner
outnumbered
lost in space
locke and key
superstore
the good place

CarrotCakeMuffins · 29/04/2022 20:23

Maybe Jane the Virgin (not sure what age rating it is). My slightly older DD loved it

moodyseagull · 29/04/2022 20:25

Dodger
Friday night dinner
QI
Dave Gorman

Keroppi · 29/04/2022 20:26

Schitts creek!!! So good
Brooklyn 99

milkysmum · 30/04/2022 07:13

My 13 year old has watched and enjoyed:
Heart stopper ( currently watching this)
Friends- has watched every episode a zillion times
Modern family
Vampire diaries - also watched a zillion times!
A Typical - this one is brilliant!!
Young Sheldon
Kobra Kai
Umbrella Academy
Benidorm
Ginny and Georgia
Ackley Bridge

lugeforlife · 30/04/2022 07:42

Friends
Buffy
Ghosts
They love Vampire Diaries
Derry Girls - I like this more than them tbh
The irregulars
Miranda
Gavin and Stacey

We do also do a bit of a film thing quite often. Recents include

The village
Shaun of the dead
The woman in black
Both the Ken Branagh poirot film
Clueless and mean girls obviously
Many Sandra Bullock rom coms (dh has big crush)

MoniJitchell · 07/06/2022 10:06

Think these have all been covered but we've enjoyed The Good Place, Parks and Recreation, Schitts Creek, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Gilmore Girls, Heartstopper, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the chilling adventures of Sabrina, the office US. Dd is 12.

fruitpastille · 07/06/2022 17:52

Marvel Agents of s.h.i.e.l.d on Disney plus.
DD and I were bereft when we finished the last season. Also Agent Carter has a slight overlap with it.

Snoopsnoggysnog · 08/06/2022 21:59

My DD is 12 and some of these would be too old for her and I would not be keen on the swearing in Derry Girls for example, although I absolutely love it myself.

I was coming on to say Ghosts is brilliant. We are also watching quiz show 1% club. She loves Modern Family.

I absolutely loved Never have I ever, but for my DD I’d wait a couple of years before watching that with her.

Singleandproud · 08/06/2022 22:10

Chilling sabrina on Netflix has several sex scenes as does Emily in Paris and aren't suitable for a preteen.

BBC: Upstart Crow, Ghosts, Have I got News For You, Mock the Week, Would I lie to you.
Disney+: Benedicts secret society Marvel, Star wars, Raising Hope,
Brooklyn 99, Simpsons
American Dad but some of that content isn't appropriate and I'm regretting it a bit but it makes DD feel grown up and is no where near as bad as Family Guy or South Park

Netflix: Family Reunion, Mr Iglesias, Floor is Lava

Prime: Good Omens, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie
