It was enjoyable the same way at film on Channel 5 in the afternoon can be. The MP reminded me of a mannequin or an Action Man, he didn't seem real and I was distracted by Sienna's wide jawline.

Sophie's reaction to his affair was way too low key, and I hate it when someone's reaction to shocking news is to rush to the sink and throw up, it's completely overdone.

It dragged in the middle and was completely unbelievable but still better than some of the twaddle we've had on ITV lately - The Bay, Our House. Not to mention that Eldorado style drama in Channel 5, The Holiday - so bad!

Visually gorgeous too, the houses and the rain swept streets around Temple, just lovely.

Definitely had to suspend belief with the kids - I think they'd stepped straight out of a Disney film.

Totally! Although you could see how the son was following in his father's arrogant footsteps.

I enjoyed it but didn’t like the ending. Felt a bit of a damp squib

LuluBlakey1 · 19/04/2022 21:55

Michelle Dockery was very good. I got sick if seeing Sienna Miller pouting- for example when she is in the boat rowing alone and pouting directly at the camera.

At uni I had long light mud brown curly hair and glasses . 10 years later I had a short blonde crop and contacts.

I thought it was pretty bad. To be fair, I had read the book, so knew the twist, but it seemed even lamer on screen. The direction was shocking; why all those weird CGI effects and dream sequences? Acting wasn't much better; Rupert Friend seemed terribly bored.

The best thing was Sienna's wardrobe and the house porn.

About to binge watch this during my week off.

Pebbledashery · 20/04/2022 14:04

The university reenactments make me Cringe

I enjoyed binge watching it over the weekend. The ending was dire, totally unrealistic but in a cringeworthy way.

UhtredsLatestPaganHussy · 20/04/2022 17:19

I enjoyed it. It was a bit silly and the Kate/Holly thing was a bit eye-roll worthy but I was expecting some soapy hi-jinx.

Was fascinated by the number of sconce lights Sophie and James had in each room of their home.

TheVanguardSix · 20/04/2022 17:28

I think I just watched it for beautiful Sienna Miller and her wardrobe.
As an American, I felt it was just too American in its style. Cheesy in parts.
And it didn't need to be over-egged. The actors were good. The story was good. It just needed to be more subtle, less far-fetched... didn't need the silly slo-mo actions of people falling to pieces while a woman with a wispy child-like voice sings a haunting tune.

But presumably your mannerisms, voice, facial features and height stayed the same?

purplecorkheart · 26/04/2022 14:43

I watched it over a couple night. i enjoyed the first couple of episodes and then found it dragged, it was like six episodes were agreed and they were going to do six episodes when four would have been fine. The whole thing with the barrister while being completely farfetched it was entirely predictable.

I had been planning to read the book but the show has put me off.

lapasion · 28/04/2022 07:46

The show was a bit ridiculous and definitely suffered from some poor acting. Had to suspend disbelief quite a bit. It was like watching a crap Lifetime movie at times.

However, I did like the overall world the show created. Would love to see some more shows about terrible posh people with lovely houses.
