Me and DS are stuck in over the holidays due to illness. I love a good binge-worthy box set but the ones I watch tend to be too old for him.

We usually end up watching quiz shows when we sit down together but if I have to sit through another episode of Pointless I might not be responsible for my actions.

Can anyone recommend any that would be suitable for his age group that we could watch together? He’s not into superheroes, so nothing Marvel/DC type of thing.

Modern Family or Brooklyn 99?

You might want to vet them for age appropriatness (not a word is it) but my 11 yr old loves them and so do I!

LadyMacduff · 12/04/2022 11:59

There's one called Dodger on iplayer at the moment which is good. I've watched an episode with my Y9 form and they liked it.

Ghosts is great, if you've not seen it.

Maybe something like Brooklyn 99, but I think there is some swearing in it.

My 9yo has been enjoying ghosts, fortunately a few bits have gone over her head (Why does Julian have no trousers on Mummy? Grin)

Mine also like cookery programmes... they really enjoyed the James May one. (Oh Cook)

Find Merlin - it must be available on one of the platforms. It’s perfect for your needs! And maybe The Musketeers on iplayer? I think it’s rated 12 though.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 12/04/2022 12:09

Just checked - Merlin is on iplayer too.

Wutipg · 13/04/2022 16:11

My 12 year old enjoys the apprentice just now. 16 seasons to go through !

Snoopsnoggysnog · 13/04/2022 16:50

Modern family

The Goldbergs

livingonpurpose · 13/04/2022 19:17

My ds (11) would recommend:
The IT Crowd
Friday Night Dinner
Modern Family
Some bits are a little old for him, but much goes over his head, or allows us to discuss things in an appropriate way.

Malcolm in the middle.
Futurama.

I used £8 of Tesco club card vouchers to buy a 6 month Disney+ subscription.

To my delight, ds is turning into a sci-fi fan like me! We’ve been working our way through all the various incarnations of Star Trek and he also loves Dr Who. Ghosts is another favourite, along with Masterchef and Great British Menu.

TheChosenTwo · 13/04/2022 20:38

My dds (okay, a bit older) really enjoyed watching clarksons farm with me, we found it very entertaining.
It’s a bit sweary but if he’s at senior school he’s heard it all before!

BarryBob77 · 13/04/2022 20:39

We have just started watching taskmaster together and my 12 year old loves it!
