Stream Julia weekly on Sky Atlantic with NOW from 12 April.

I've missed seeing Sarah Lancashire on TV so that's the main reason I'm watching. In my mind I'm equating Julia Childs to Delia Smith (please don't hate me). I may even end up buying one of Julia Childs' cookbooks to help me reignite my love for cooking.

Aw nobody commented.

Just started watching. She's putting me in mind of Hyacinth Bucket.

I adored this show and thought the cast just superb.

the cookery books are not for the faint hearted!

Is there lots of cream? And garlic? Love both.

CuriousMama · 04/07/2022 23:33

She died at 91. I didn't realise that.

Crazykefir · 04/07/2022 23:35

I loved it op. She's just great in everything she does and the supporting cast were excellent.

I haven't watched this but did see the film with Meryl Streep playing her. She and her husband seemed to be very much in love, from what I remember.

Forestdweller11 · 04/07/2022 23:46

Loved it. Cast was epic

tobee · 04/07/2022 23:58

Saw the Meryl Streep film.

Me & Dh watched the first episodes of this and enjoyed it. However, we haven't got round to seeing any more. Watched first 2 when it started. Is it worth going back to?

I watched it twice. I thought it was the best tv series I’ve seen in years (Mare of Eastown was really good too). Not watched Sarah L before but she deserves awards for this performance and the rest of the cast were fantastic. It is feel good and uplifting, interesting and just a class act.

tobee · 05/07/2022 00:14

I really enjoyed Mare of Eastown. And Happy Valley. And Fraser. Grin

Zott · 05/07/2022 00:18

@tobee I think I will try Happy Valley. Thanks.

tobee · 05/07/2022 09:48

Frasier. Stupid autocorrect

CuriousMama · 05/07/2022 10:04

Sarah Lancashire is an amazing actress. She's great in last tango in Halifax.

Orpheline · 05/07/2022 18:49

How she kept that voice up, I don't know. How the cast put up with it, I don't know

Orpheline · 05/07/2022 18:53

Mare of Eastown=Kate Winslet
Frasier=Jane Leeves

This was an exceptionally well-written drama, with an excellent cast. Very stylish. Since finishing, I’ve been Googling Julia, Paul, Avis, Russ, Judith and Blanche - very interesting people. Russ is still alive.

I am hoping for another series. I know Alice is fictional but I’m rooting for her and Isaac!
