Oh it was brilliant wasnt it! I read the book about two years ago by the reporter Bad Blood by John Carreyrou - who uncovered the whole thing. I was looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint.

Absolutely brilliant! Gripped all the way through.

Amanda Seyfried was absolutely mesmerising and Narveen Andrew’s played Sunny really well. Hard to tell from the film if her claims that he groomed her were considered as it seemed very likely given she was only 17/18 when they met and the relationship was always secret from everyone.

Just saw that George Shultz died last year at 101 and that dynamic also reminded me of the German heiress (Inventing Anna) scandal that also involved a very young blond woman flattering an older guy. People lose their minds through greed when there is so much money swilling around.

Tyler and Erica were the hero’s - it’s a shame that his grandfather was not humble enough to see that his grandson had done something wonderful.

I think it’s the best thing she (Amanda Seyfried) has done. I’m not usually a fan.

I also enjoyed it. thought the ending was a bit rushed when Billy Evans was introduced. I'd like to know how "Lizzie" managed to bag him then get married and have a baby whilst undergoing trial.

peanutpancakes · 09/04/2022 19:16

Yes, I loved it. I listened to the podcast a couple of years ago which was even better.

Sadly can't read this without a subscription, looks interesting though.

I loved it! Thought Amanda Seyfried was an odd choice before I watched it (only knew her from Mean Girls and Mamma Mia) but she was fantastic as was everyone else.

@SapatSea - I am not sure anyone knows much about their relationship from what I’ve read. A photo surfaced of them at Burning Man a few years ago and it is assumed they are married but it seems details are scarce. I think that’s why there wasn’t much focus on it.

ComDummings · 09/04/2022 19:24

I enjoyed it, Amanda was so good as Elizabeth. I went down a YouTube rabbit hole about the whole scandal and she nailed the mannerisms and the weird voice. Elizabeth is such a strange individual. Shocking that she was able to get so much funding for basically nothingShock

Horological · 09/04/2022 19:28

Where can I watch it?

Sapphirejane · 09/04/2022 19:41

@Horological Disney+

Thereyougo10 · 09/04/2022 19:48

Just finished it and loved it too. Had read the book and watched a documentary on it which were also very good.

Anything else that's interesting aside from Dopesick to watch on Disney+ ?

I don't have Disney so can't watch this but afaik she got together with Billy had her baby before the trial had even started. Is it not true to life?
Sapphirejane · 09/04/2022 20:28

@IcedOatLatte - the show mainly focused on the ride and fall of Theranos and then the bit with Billy was just at the end where it explained they’d had a baby and her trial had happened but it wasn’t the focus of the drama.
