Since having a baby I've had to stop watching Newsnight as it's on too late! I used to watch every night. I also stopped watching Question Time after Fiona Bruce took over and it took a lurch towards the populist / dare I say dumbed down?
Anyway I've recently come across the new BBC current affairs discussion programme called Context. (News channel 9pm week nights). Has anyone else seen it? Its brilliant and has really given me back my news discussion fix.
It's presented by Christian Fraser who is just superb, and the discussion is always so interesting and in depth. He asks the sort of questions you feel the viewer at home is wondering about, and gets a really strong range of guests on a panel each night to contribute - not just journalists and commentators but experts in their field, such as the ex-Head of NATO for example.
Most of the discussion has of course been on Ukraine, and it's really helped me understand the background of what's going on and the complexities of where it might go next.
I really recommend this programme to anyone interested in news.
