Hi. Is anyone else watching this, or has finished watching it? I have just finished Episode 3 and I'm in two minds about whether or not to persevere.
The first episode was really gripping, but now it's dragging on.
Thanks.

It's really good - I think it picks up. Do persist!

Zog14 · 30/03/2022 00:39

I just finished it. Don’t think it lived up to the promise of first couple of episodes. Found my attention wandering and thought ending was very flat.

mycatisannoying · 30/03/2022 00:42

I didn't persevere. It didn't manage to hold my interest after the first episode at all.

I agree. And the daughter’s mono-expression irritated the hell out of me. Annoying, because the first few episodes did indeed draw you in.

DP and I stopped watching halfway through episode 3. As most of the comments say, it really did start to drag and lost my interest entirely. I’m sure we haven’t missed out on anything😂

Snog · 31/03/2022 15:06

I thought it was boring

mycatisannoying · 31/03/2022 17:55

Definitely boring. I have long since given up. Shame really, as it got off to a promising start.
I really like Toni Collette, but the constant lip pursing was doing my head in. And what a bloody misery her daughter was! Cry me a river, rent-free girl Grin

I started it and then didn't continue after episode 2 or 3.

QuebecBagnet · 31/03/2022 18:00

I really liked it.

RonSwansonsChair · 31/03/2022 18:03

Agree it dragged after episode 1, watched it till the end but under duress (DH will never give up on seeing something to the end).

BlueFlavour · 01/04/2022 15:17

Thought it was pretty dire.

InflationRising · 01/04/2022 15:25

Pretty rubbish and I was a fan of the author and the book.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 01/04/2022 15:27

I couldn’t finish it, the daughter drove me crazy! She was so bloody annoying.

AiryFairy1 · 01/04/2022 15:31

We stuck it out to the end - there were some good moments, but it's def not in my top 5 or even top 10.

Love love love Toni Collette in any case (although in my mind it's always "you're terrible Muriel" Grin)

Butteredtoast55 · 01/04/2022 18:13

It wasn't quite as good as it promises but better than some stuff I've watched recently.
Slight spoiler alert......I found the complete lack of likeness between Jane and Laura very distracting.

InkySquid · 03/04/2022 20:50

I've just finished it and tbh I've no idea what was going on half the time. Perhaps should have put the crochet down when watching

Annoyedandirritated · 03/04/2022 20:51

Loved the book, 2 episodes in and not very impressed so far

VirginiaQ · 04/04/2022 14:05

I thought it was ok. Binge watched it whilst doing something else on a Sunday afternoon.

However there were plot holes you could drive a bus through and I couldn't over the fact her mother said to her in episode 3 or 4 'come home and I'll tell you everything' but she decided to go on full blown Miss Marple and managed to drag it out for another 4/5 episodes when it could have been sorted in 4 max.

lurkingfromhome · 04/04/2022 17:46

First episode was good, then it got duller and duller after that. I saw it through to the end but could happily have stopped after ep 2. It just wasn't very interesting and full of unlikely coincidences and gaping plot holes..

Also, there was not a single note of resemblance between the child and adult versions of Toni C, which was really distracting. That child actor was completely miscast.

muckandnettles · 04/04/2022 18:02

I gave up after the first 5 episodes I think. I really liked the Mum with a shady past idea and that drew me in, but it just went on so much. Could have been much better shorter.

Fireblanket · 04/04/2022 18:04

Like others I was disappointed by it, particularly as I really rate Toni Collette.

The first episode hooked me but then I couldn't get into the second episode, and this is usually my type of show.
cakelover75 · 04/04/2022 18:55

Same, got to episode 5 and was in a huff cause it was so terrible and we’d wasted precious Saturday night viewing time to watch it Angry

Scianel · 04/04/2022 22:59

It wasn't very good at all - total waste of Toni Colette. I was really looking forward to it as well as I'd enjoyed the book but it was just so ungripping and the daugher was very annoying.
And agree that there was zero resemblence between the younger and older mother character which was just silly.

Thisbastardcomputer · 04/04/2022 23:22

I got a bit bored mid series but then it picked up and I enjoyed it.

I recommend Clickbait, that was really good
