Dynasties II - Puma

Did anyone see this last night?

I went to DM's for dinner and we both watched this. Rupestre, the mother puma was amazing, she had quads twice - apparently it's usual to have between 1-6 cubs in a litter!

Pumas trying to catch llamas! Wow.

When one of them went missing for 10 hours she was out and searching all that time!

And it was great to see farmers/ranchers rather than shooting them are now employing/using sheep dogs to protect their sheep which keep pumas away. Pumas are endanged.

Bump

Did anyone see this? I loved the pumas - in Chile. I want a pet puma now!

Yes, I loved it, and as ever, the cinematography was stunning, with beautiful shots of the family, when they surveyed their patch. But wow, what a brave mum taking in the male and also the female to defend her lakeside patch. No then, acquiescing to the other female, only to then get her patch back with her second brood.

It was incredible, and the mother puma was awesome!

Gonnagetgoing · 23/03/2022 09:57

@Lurkerlot and @MyBeloved - go mother puma!

What was interesting to me (I googled it) is that mother pumas can have more than one cub in a litter but she had quads twice!

It was amazing though (unsurprising?) to see her love and care for her cubs, hunting day after day for them in terrain with challenging weather.

Loved it! But then I love anything with cats in it big or small!

Elephant twins! Extremely rare, apparently.

Love this series.

JessyCarr · 27/03/2022 22:26

Loving the new series (and we are dipping back into the first series in between times). The elephant twins had me completely hooked 🐘 🐘

MyBeloved · 27/03/2022 22:27

That was, again, incredible.

When Atlas was upside down in the mud, I could barely watch.

Lurkerlot · 27/03/2022 22:36

I thought, due to the drought, the others would leave and at least one of them would be picked off by the Hyenas. Lucky to have such fantastic aunties as their babysitters. And how majestic was that wallowing bull? Amazing how the girls ganged up on him and had him in retreat.

P.S. in the late 80’s I was very lucky to visit Amboseli and be the one safari vehicle quietly observing elephants and their calfs quite up close. That was until one of them decided they had had enough of us, and started a fake charge at us.

It's a great series - stunning camera work, as pp said.

@Lurkerlot - just goes to show, girl power and how amazing a family and extended family is re childcare.

Just what we need to take our minds off other events in the world.
