Al may be silly and immature at times but in a lot of ways he's also one of the most mature there. One night Al wanted to watch Wolf Creek and Sam revealed to him that she's related to Ivan Milat (one of Australia's worst ever serial killers) her grandmother was his sister. Instead of blurting the news out to everyone he kept it to himself out of respect for her. If it had been someone like Cody or Olivia they probably would have brought it up at the dinner party and then demand Sam explain herself.

I’ve said it before but I adore Al and I’m so going to miss my fix of him now. He’s just such a sweetheart. I’d love it if they brought him back next series like they did John and Lizzie.
