UK Drama... Did anyone else watch the first episode. Its a spin off from Father Brown and is very similar in feel...

On planner

Yes, it's very much the Father Brown vibe. I'm surprised the BBC didn't pick it up.

DMCWelshcakes · 14/03/2022 19:57

Yes. I really enjoyed it.

Deathraystare · 15/03/2022 15:19

I surprised myself! Don't normally like those genteel "Ooh! A Murder!" type of things. I prefer lots of blood and gore, but I did enjoy this (must be my age!). I texted my SIL cos she loved Father Brown.

liquidrevolution · 15/03/2022 15:30

Of course it helps that that the lead policeman is dishy Grin

I enjoyed it and came on here to say so but the only thread I could see was someone saying how crap it was. I dont care I love the cheesy detective series.

buntywindermere · 15/03/2022 15:36

Missed it but thanks for the heads up!!

Ellmau · 15/03/2022 22:56

Has anyone seen Queens of Mystery? Slightly different vibe but in the same wheelhouse.

MangyInseam · 15/03/2022 23:02

I've watched two of these and haven't enjoyed them as much as the early Father Browns. They seem a little more formulaic or mechanical?

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 16/03/2022 11:32

DH and I enjoyed it but irritated by the face painting. Surely face painting is a modern activity. I grew up in the 60's and certainly never saw it at fetes or fayres.

We enjoyed Queens of Mystery too. We like light hearted murder!

MangyInseam · 16/03/2022 17:31

I think a lot of what goes on in FB is anachronistic, so I expect the same from SB.

RaraRachael · 22/03/2022 18:02

I liked Father Brown so thought I'd give this a whirl. It was fine, but didn't enjoy it as much as FB.

I hated Queens of Mystery - too quirky for me and reminded me of the shite that was Agatha Raisin Grin

Still haven’t seen sister yet

But watched e1 of queen and there was Lady Felicia from father brown 😂😂

Iwantacampervan · 03/04/2022 08:37

Father Brown appearing with Sister Boniface - at least he was himself unlike Lady Felicia in Queens of Mystery (I get very easily confused!)

RaraRachael · 03/04/2022 13:50

We have Sister Boniface the benefit of the doubt and watched the second episode. Utter tripe and so disjointed - don't know if that's the fault of the script, director, producer whatever. Sister B talking in that silly little twee voice just gets on my nerves.

No more for us I'm afraid.

liquidrevolution · 03/04/2022 20:30

Father brown was really old and doddery not his usual sprightly self.

diddl · 04/04/2022 13:10

I've watched a couple but didn't really like it.

With FB, I also like Mrs McCarthy & other supporting characters.

That seemed to be missing with SB.

JackieDaws · 04/04/2022 13:16

@liquidrevolution

Father brown was really old and doddery not his usual sprightly self.
That's because SB is set in the 1960s and FB is set in the 50s.
