Best 'grown-up' programmes on Disney+

I've just finished Only Murders jn the Building which I absolutely loved. Have also watched Big Sky.

But I find the user interface of Disney+ quite clunky and not easy to find things with them not being grouped into genres.

What are your favourite adults programmes on Disney+/Star?

Oh I've watched Pam & Tommy as well

Dope sick was brilliant.

PurpleHollyhocks · 09/03/2022 09:52

Dope sick is amazing

Soubriquet · 09/03/2022 09:52

Castle
Hawkeye (if you like marvel)
Agents of Shield (again if you like marvel)

Soubriquet · 09/03/2022 09:52

Oh how could I forget Dollface

Findahouse21 · 09/03/2022 09:54

The Resident is a great medical drama
For the People is based on newly qualified lawyers in New York
I've had Athlete A recommended to me (about sexual abuse towards gymnasts) but not seen myself

TellerTuesday · 09/03/2022 09:55

Oh sorry, I've also watched Dopesick. Guess I found more on there than I thought

American Horror Stories (the spin off to American Horror Story). Trippy as hell

APurpleSquirrel · 09/03/2022 10:06

We loved Only Murders in the Building - glad they're doing a second series.
Also:
The Marvel stuff is great (if you like Marvel)
The Resident
911

They have some older stuff which is great to catch up on, if you never watched it the first time:
The Walking Dead
Castle
Criminal Minds
24
Greys Anatomy

On our to watch list is:
Pam & Tommy
Dope sick
The Dropout

If you select Star & scroll down to suggested series it should show you what's available.

This Is Us
Ugly Betty

jay55 · 09/03/2022 10:15

Reservation Dogs maybe more teen than adult but totally engaging.

I've enjoyed Private practice which I didn't watch originally and rewatching Castle.

And Encore! If you like musicals, actually the bitching and gossiping is also fascinating even if you don't.

RedPanda901 · 09/03/2022 10:32

If you like documentaries, Free Solo was v good. About a free climber who scaled one of the smoothest sides of El Capitan without ropes.

Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch is on there. Not seen it yet but it was recently in the cinema.

TonyThreePies · 09/03/2022 23:25

I've just started Snowfall - looks like it's going to be good!

Sswhinesthebest · 09/03/2022 23:27

How I met your mother is really funny.

LemonDrizzles · 10/03/2022 07:34

Jessica Jones is about to move there. Season 1 is brilliant

mum2jakie · 10/03/2022 07:36

Modern Family is on there

knittingaddict · 10/03/2022 08:09

We are half way through watching The Big Leap and loving it so far. It's a comedy drama about amateurs entering a dance competition. Doesn't sound like much, but it's funny and has a warm heart.

Unfortunately Fox have done what they do best and cancelled it after one series, despite getting 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Angry (I still haven't forgiven them for Firefly). However we are enjoying it for what it is and highly recommend.

ladyflower23 · 10/03/2022 22:41

We watched Get Back the Beatles documentary. Loved it!

LizzieSiddal · 10/03/2022 22:43

I’ll second the Beatles documentary, it’s brilliant.

I’ve just started DropOut, it’s fascinating!

Verite1 · 10/03/2022 22:51

The Americans

burnoutbabe · 10/03/2022 22:55

The killing was good (4 seasons)

Pixies74 · 21/03/2022 17:41

@Verite1

The Americans
Definitely this! Up there as one of my favourite series. (And I am mega fussy!) I was sucked in from the first five mins of the first episode. Still bereft that I've finished it months on and I'm still looking for something to watch that comes close.

It's set in 1980s America in the midst of the Cold War, two Soviet spies are deep undercover as a married American couple, with two teenaged children. It's as much about relationships as it is a thriller.

angelopal · 21/03/2022 17:44

911 and 911 Lonestar are really good.

Sparklingbrook · 21/03/2022 17:45

911 Lonestar. Rob Lowe as a fire chief. Smile

Dameputtingonabraveface · 21/03/2022 22:00

The Golden Girls, 80s sitcom but still holds up well. It was (and still is) quite revolutionary in the way it portrays older women. And it is bloody funny. Also Ugly Betty- again maybe a but dated but something I have really loved watching again with DD. Easy to watch, kind, kitsch but full of heart, drama and humour.
