Did anyone watch this last night?
That poor woman with all those fibroids!
She must have been in so much discomfort.

Yes, it was fascinating and also horrifying. I was so glad the op went well for her.

Jazzcafecoffee · 03/03/2022 14:25

Me too. I had no idea fibroids could get that large, poor woman but have been so uncomfortable.

1000 of them!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 03/03/2022 14:28

Fat fingers! 100, not 1000. Blush

I'd like to know why both women were left so long before getting any help/treatment... but fascinating watch. I'd love to see what my insides look like. I'd be keen to take a look at my bastard PCOS

mummymayhem18 · 03/03/2022 14:33

@Frazzlerock same here.

Jazzcafecoffee · 03/03/2022 16:01

GaspOdeTheWOnderDOg and so many that it was like carrying a full term baby, just amazing she put up with it for so long.
frazzlerock amazing that she left it so long, she must have been in so much discomfort. But my sister did something similar, kept putting up with pain for years and eventually got rushed to hospital where they found a huge ovarian mass of which they suspected OC, a four hour op later revealed endometriosis. Silly thing has now gone another 4 years putting up with pain and is probably back to square one with a high CA-125 blood test and has an urgent gynae appointment for next week. Some people are so scared they bury their heads in the sand!
I’ve seen my colon on the screen during a colonoscopy, really fascinating and weird to watch your insides from the outside lol!

I thought they said the fibroids had developed quite fast over a few months. I could have got that wrong, but if I didn't, she actually got treatment pretty fast, given that was clearly filmed months ago and we were going in and out of lockdown, NHS overwhelmed, etc etc.

Frazzlerock · 04/03/2022 07:10

@Jazzcafecoffee your poor sister! I just don't think I could just accept being in pain, I'd want to get whatever it is fixed. But I suppose not everyone is like that. I hope your sister is okay.

The most I've seen of my body that fascinated me was when I had my ears micro-suctioned and seeing all the falf coming out through the tube Immensely satisfying Grin

Frazzlerock · 04/03/2022 07:14

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g oh maybe that's what happened then. I did wonder why they'd got so out of hand, so that would explain it. She looked so happy once they had all been removed! Can you imagine the relief! I really hope she gets to have children

LemonViolet · 30/03/2022 20:20

I haven’t seen any of this series yet but just watching tonight’s, and it’s featuring a woman with severe endometriosis. It’s jaw dropping!

I wonder if this is the future of medical imaging, one day we’ll all be able to see our scans this way. Medically trained personnel can “see” this way already by interpreting scans, but 3D VR like this is accessible to everyone.

mcdog · 30/03/2022 20:25

@LemonViolet absolutely shocking. That poor woman, and she's so young :(

TitsInAbsentia · 10/04/2022 17:31

I'm v late to the party on this one but WHOAH! Those fibroids? It was awful enough seeing them in situ (how amazing was that imaging) but seeing them all laid out on the table after removal was just shocking. I really hope she has been able to start a family.
