I've got a few episodes in, the men are horrendous, the dubbing atrocious, but I'm fully invested

Ohhh! I haven’t seen this one yet. Thoroughly enjoying the Japanese Love is Blind though, they are very polite and the men ( and women) seem super cute and endearing.

I plan on watching the Japanese one next Trixiefirecracker.

Thiago is so beautiful he’s hard to look at but honestly appears to be a dreadful human being.

My faves are Hudson and Dayana (although I wouldn’t have guessed that at the start). I binged but won’t put spoilers unless I know everyone else has!

I confess I binged....made it to the end yesterday but I won't post too much, will wait for you all to catch up.

I thought Thiago was a bit grim but I can see why people might like him looks wise, he's not doing it for me. Probably Shay is the only one I think looks cute but personality wise there's a long way to go - he's forcing his culture on Anna and not really being so understanding about her being a parent.

Wait til you get to the wedding dresses - there's WAY too much boob/flesh/doily going on

I have started watching Brazil one, the contrast to Japanese LIB is quite striking and makes for really interesting cultural comparisons, which is obviously why I watch it 😂 Who am I trying to fool? 🤣

Hi @TitsInAbsentia I am about 5 episodes in.

I like it but I must say I am not sure any of these couples are going to stay together (no spoilers, please) but I feel they all seem to have some issues - cultural issues/feminist concerns/smoking/tidiness etc.

@Trixiefirecracker I am going to watch the Japan one next. I have visited Japan and lived in Asia and so am more interested in this culture but I must admit I am not looking forward to subtitles (although I will be happy to not have the terrible dubbing!)

@FridayiminlovewithRobertSmith what is it about Hudson and Dayana you like? I do like them both but I tend to like Rodrigo more, I like Carol too, I like the ladies generally, in that I see their side in things, so Rodrigo is the exception.

One guy I feel is not very pleasant at all, plus all the bloody joking. Everyone seems to do it, the partner asks a question and the other says, we won't live here, no joking we will, I will go on a date with someone else, no joking, etc etc. Bloody boring. Maybe it's a cultural thing!

Not yet but I l’m planning a binge!

So I’m assuming this one is set in a well-off community of São Paulo or somewhere whereas I lived in a very quiet, not super rich or poor, small town in the south, surrounded by farms. Cultural differences are MASSIVE in Brazil.

The joking thing, I can’t say I noticed it much out there but at the same time it sounds like something they would do. I always used to feel like attitudes were about a generation behind so maybe it’s the same with humour and they’re just getting to the “… NOT!” stage.

@Italiangreyhound I think there’s the most growth over the series for those 2 (with out spoilers!)

I binged LIB Japan first, the cultural difference is huge compared with LIB Brazil. I'm on the penultimate episode and just really want to say that Shayan is a text book narcissist, gaslighting his way throughout the show, using emotional manipulation to get his way. I really hope poor Ana doesn't end up marrying him and exposing her young daughter to this nutter.

So, I am up to episode 9 - coming up on episode 10.

I'm going to comment on couples so if you are much earlier on stop reading now!! I will use initials so if you are at the beginning of the programme you won't know who I mean yet!!! Plus I cannot spell the names!

This is my predictions! I don't know yet.

A and S - I don't think they will make it, cultural differences, family situations etc and maybe some degree of gaslighting but not sure who is going it!!

L and L - I cannot see this going the distance. She is so beautiful and intelligent and I think he is just rather dull.

N and T I can't see this working, they don't seem to want marriage really.

D and R I love this couple and I hope they make it but they have very different mannerisms/ways of living. They do seem to have a genuine connection.

C and H seem to have best connection. I think they will make it but he is very young to make this commitment. Almost everyone else is 30 plus I think.

Wedding dresses - amazing - suits amazing. O actually liked T's suit but not very weddingy. Best dress, not sure yet. Definitely not the black one but maybe I am just conditioned to think bride in white! Seeing a groom in white looked odd!!

Oh just realised Carol and Ana are only 29. They seem older, more mature.

Ana's fave when Shye was complaining about the pain of the tattoo!

Everyone has brilliant teeth. Is it the diet, the water, good brushing!!!!

Oh no. There is no reunion. I need to do research to see who is s still together.

So I can see how L&L work it’s v genuine and quite grown up.

I was impressed how mature and emotionally articulate H was - esp given how young he is. The warmth and closeness of his family is really nice too. I don’t fully buy him and C going the distance. I like her and I like her spirit and how some of the prickliness is a product of her experience. They clearly fancy each other - and they should as they are gorgeous - But something missing.

I can really see how R avoiding any conversation of depth would grate and the anal thing about tidiness etc. I liked how you got to see more of D unfold overtime. I didn’t see it at first but she’s very pretty and smart.

S ignoring As child 🤨 Wanting her to be his mother 🤨 I do think A was also quite high maintenance. Never really going to work.

T is a real pig. Really controlling chauvinist and arrogant. I was surprised he and N went ahead. Could never really see it at all, however was all agog when I found out how it all turned out.

H and C worked it out, they seemed the shakiest and got really strong. Think A dodged a massive bullet with S, although I agree that she seemed hard work at times. My favourites turned out to be L and L. T and N were just a car crash waiting to happen, so many red flags all over the place even his wedding so each had to mention how many girls he’d been with. 😫
