Over too soon if you ask me.

Yeah it's great.

Thought initially it was a weaker version of Curb Your Enthusiasm but it has really grown on me.

beansprout · 03/01/2008 17:31

lol at unheppy!

I don't think this series has been as good. It relies too much on near farce rather than the misanthropic ramblings that made the first series so good.

Easywriter · 03/01/2008 17:32

Curb your enthusiasm?

I haven't heard of that one.

I'm obviously the new girl who's been missing out. I thought this was the first series.

Can you tell I don't get to watch much TV.

Curb Your Enthuasiam is written and stars Larry David.

Think it was shown on BBC2 or BBC4 late at night.

It is painfully funny (in same vein as Lead Balloon and The Office.)

Highly recommended.

I'm a bit fed up of Lead Balloon - thought the first series was much better. In this series he just seems like a really unpleasant, whiny middle-aged man, I want to shout "NO" at his daughter whenever she appears and his wife is getting on my tits. Magda otoh is still v funny.

bubblerock · 03/01/2008 17:56

I can't read your thread title without doing an aussie accent

Threadworm · 03/01/2008 18:01

I em unheppy. Of course. In my contry we do do not end programmes which make us heppy. Is bed to end zis programme.

Easywriter · 03/01/2008 18:04

bubblerock - you mean polish don't you (or is that spanish)?

Is she meant to be Polish or Russian?

Agree with Daisymoo that the Rick character has become just too unpleasant and incompetant. You have to kind of like him and empathise with him for the comedy to work best.

Easywriter · 03/01/2008 18:10

He's incredible, his behaviour is utterly ridiculous.
I can't believe he was ever likeable, that shows considerable talent to have a character like that and make you like him.

Is Polish
Tony Gardner (Michael in the cafe) is an unsung genius of British comic acting
but they are all good
I loved it even though it made me convulse with horror a lot of the time

08aGreatYearForCarmenere · 06/01/2008 23:28

I've met the daughter a few times socially. she is about 26 and never eats.

PrismManchip · 06/01/2008 23:28

Is Polish? Hes Russian accent!
(Vot do I know? Lived in Poland, never heard people speak like zis. Am unheppy about bed accent.)

I kind of liked the series but not enough laughs. I think Jack Dee is funnier as himself.

PS Marina! Did you make it to Edinburgh? xxPruni

edam · 06/01/2008 23:31

Tony Gardner was v. good in Struck Off And Die.

But Lead Balloon is pants - not half as funny as Jack Dee thinks it is. And his comic persona is a bit old-hat.
