Bel Aire..... Anyone watching?

I just watched all 4 available episodes- love it!
I liked the original series ( not hugely invested though), so I wasn't sure about this one. Absolutely hooked now. All the characters are spot on.

What's it on?

It's on Sky- I watched it through the Now app. It definitely isn't a comedy though!

I watched the original as a kid, I’ve heard very mixed things about this new series - mainly that it takes it self too seriously as a drama and the characterisation of Carlton.

I imagine that as a drama, there is not that same ability to suddenly wrongfoot the audience, by unexpectedly dropping the comedic act thus creating moving dramatic moments that really pull on your heart strings (specifically thinking of Will’s vulnerability re his father in the original).

I’ll still give it a go but any thoughts on these criticisms?

It definitely takes itself seriously, but I like the tone of it.

I like the bits that they have kept from the original- Geoffrey's relationship with each of the children, for example.
