We watched it,good wasn't it? Looking forward to tonight.

JackieNo · 02/01/2008 19:06

WE enjoyed it too. The Radio Times website review described it as 'like a Top Gear challenge, but with nicer people'.

rantinghousewife · 02/01/2008 19:07

I haven't laughed so much at a programme for years, Dara O'brain is soo funny.

I really liked the first one as well (and the books they are based on!), was watching last night then DH turned over to watch Midsomer Murders! So how much was the boat worth??

rantinghousewife · 02/01/2008 19:08

Do you think they'll tell you how much his boat is worth?

I love Dara - must remember to watch again tonight. I thought the boat was lovely too

MillieMummy · 02/01/2008 19:08

We thought it was fantastic - wish they had spread it out over more programmes though, must have been lots of good bits that were left on the editing room floor.

NomDePlume · 02/01/2008 19:08

I love it.

We watched the original series which was also v funny. I think Gryff's boat is gorgeous

JackieNo · 02/01/2008 19:09

They didn't tell us how much the boat's worth. Maybe they will tonight...

rantinghousewife · 02/01/2008 19:09

Opps x posted. They haven't said yet Bellabear. Rofl at you having to endure midsomer murders.

ranting - I didn't endure at all, I went and had a nice bath. Midsomer Murders is pants.

Bloody expensive, boats, aren't they?!

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/01/2008 12:29

I loved it too - liked the 3 men in a boat last time - poor Griff - he was so patient and wanted so much to win ! I quite e njoyed it as I come from a sailing family, I don't any more but can remember my dad teaching us the rudiments of dinghy sailing and getting cross !

JackieNo · 03/01/2008 12:30

I've never been into sailing, but I found bits of Swallows and Amazons etc coming back to me as I watched it. Must re-read those...

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/01/2008 12:33

it's all that tacking - there's a long descriptive bit about the smallest boy tacking across the lawn early on in S and Amazons ! I'd forgotten about all the tactics and rules of racing...I've only raced once with my dad as his crew and our combined competitive urge was quite scary - could feel for Griff.

JackieNo · 03/01/2008 12:34

Oh yes I remember that. Roger, was it?

BellaBear · 03/01/2008 12:35

MaryAnn - YES! Roger tacks across a field instead of running straight. Ah the memories.

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/01/2008 12:35

yes ! If found it very hard going read - love the film version though

JackieNo · 03/01/2008 12:36

I read all of them and loved them. But never got into sailing, despite growing up in a seaside town.
