Does it get better? I loved Grey's and NA seemed ok at first but it's just a bit bland in comparison. Worth persevering?

It does draw you in a bit, but (assuming you are from the UK rather than the US) the storylines can seem a bit odd as many are political about healthcare systems. I watched it halfheartedly but have now given up on series 4. But I can't say why without giving a huge spoiler away.
Summary - mildly entertaining but the lead character is annoying and the key messages are off for non-US viewers.

I dont find the lead character annoying at all! Love the show, it can be a bit America cheese at times but it's a great watch.

Sarahbeeney · 14/02/2022 23:56

I like it,it has some quite shocking moments that take you by surprise.

My absolutely fave is Chicago Med

Rummikub · 15/02/2022 00:00

I liked this
Watch it if it’s on more 4 but it seems to have disappeared

silentpool · 15/02/2022 03:16

It got very political after the first couple of seasons and I felt like I was being lectured, rather than entertained.

Is Chicago Med better than Greys?

It got very political after the first couple of seasons and I felt like I was being lectured, rather than entertained.
Call the midwife is a bit like that sometimes.

Any other hospital / medical series with strong female leads?

I like it. Up to series 3.

I like having a series that I don't feel the need to binge watch. It is a bit preachy and tends to have a theme per episode, but I found Greys Anatomy got a bit preachy too. Lots of social commentary.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 15/02/2022 08:28

I loved it! A few twists and turns when it was getting stale to shake things up a bit. I haven’t seen Grey’s or Chicago Med though.

Sarahbeeney · 15/02/2022 19:45

@HuffleMyHuffle I wouldn’t say Chicago Med is better than Greys but I haven’t seen Greys for years now. I lost interest.

Code Black is brilliant too. I can’t remember what it’s on though.

Zog14 · 08/04/2022 00:31

Just watched series 3. I enjoyed series 1 & 2 but found this one a bit artificial. I agree with previous poster that said there was a theme to each episode. There was COVID, racism, native Americans, climate change and anti Vaxers. These issues are of course important but to have each episode Goodwin set out to “solve” these difficulties just seemed a bit unlikely. I think maybe I just prefer the focus on the relationships between staff and patients. It’s just a different slant I guess. Would still watch next series though!

Chilver · 08/04/2022 01:01

I like it. Prefer Code Black though which was excellent. Also huge Greys fan. Another I liked is The Night Shift.

Zog14 · 08/04/2022 10:59

Yes, I liked code black as well. Was a shame it wasn’t renewed.

Ballsaque · 02/05/2022 00:03

Absolutely loved Rob Lowe in Code Black too!

Forconfessingonly · 11/08/2022 15:34

Season 4 of New Amsterdam has just started on Sky Atlantic. I love it. Particularly the lead character!
Ep 2 was last night.

No spoilers please!

vjg13 · 11/08/2022 17:57

It's on Sky Witness too, one of few things I can watch even though I don't have Sky Atlantic!

Ballsaque · 12/08/2022 18:03

Thanks @Forconfessingonly annoying that they don’t release the whole series in 1 go though!

Forconfessingonly · 12/08/2022 22:49

It's very annoying @Ballsaque I want to binge!

vjg13 · 07/10/2022 09:52

It seems to be getting really crap, I was shouting at the tv in the last one about the ice machine. It was such a telegraphed storyline.
