Does anyone remember "Dead Like Me"

Did anyone ever watch this on SKY? I thought it was really original and highly entertaining. I would expect we should be seeing the second series by now. It was a yank show so I hope we've bought it again this year. Quote..

"My mother hated the word moist. We weren't allowed to say it in the house, she thought is sounded pornographic"

Is that the one with the very lovely dykon Eliza Dushku in it?

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 13:34

No, you're thinking of Tru calling. I don't like that one, it's a bit corny.

Dead like me was a comedy based on a girl and her 'colleagues' who were grim reapers. Sounds weird but it was genuinely good.

Oh yes, heard of that, was supposed to be rather good. Didn't know it was recommissioned.

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 13:37

I don't think it has been, that's my fear. I wonder if anyone has heard otherwise.

Saying that, I seem to be the only person who watched this amongst all my colleagues and friends so maybe that's why!

My mate Roz did. But then she makes a living from watching and writing about this sort of stuff.

You could perhaps sublimate with a DVD of the divine Mr Whedon's Firefly? Which also - sob - not being recommissioned (in fact was dropped halfway through the series) but is being made into a few fillums, apparently.

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 13:47

Just googled it, looks interesting. Joss Whedon comes up with some cool stuff.

Oh, here's a good one - Arrested Developement (not one of Joss's but won a few emmys)

yes i remember it, the star was killed by a toilet right? And one of her colleagues use to be in 'As if'. I thought i heard there was only going to be one series, might be wrong. I quite liked it though.

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 13:51

Yup, that's the one. One series Nooooooo!

It's on BBC3, isn't it?

The good thing about Tru Calling being a bit pants is that it may encourage Ms Dushku back into Faith's leather trousers, so to speak. Which, to the many of us saddened bereaved Buffyites, can only be a Good Thing.

Twiglett · 18/11/2004 13:54

Yes ..but I thought it was pants

.. excellent concept, but badly executed .. there seemed to be something wrong with the pace .. wasn't gripping / humourous / interesting enough

still think I watched virtually the whole series

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 13:57

Faith back in Leather pants. No, Eliza never 'did' it for me. But yes, I am a bereaved buffyite. Actually, you know, I preferred Willow!

yes also like tru calling. You probably recognise my nickname from every cult type tv thread, you name it and i am probably a fan. Yes would love it if they started a faith the vampire slayer! Quite like tru calling though it used to clash with west wing so had to miss it!

yingers74 · 18/11/2004 13:59

whatever happened to the idea that giles was going to front his own show? is it still going ahead?

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 14:00

I don't know but I heard he was fed up with filming in the states so if he were to star in a spin off, it may be filmed over here (which is unlikely I reckon).

The Beeb had various plans but they all came to nothing, apparently.

I need to get out more.

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 14:04

Yeah, me too and I need to get off this site or I'm going to get sacked!

Maybe another five minutes..

I just found this on the BBC Buffy site, quote from ASH:

Joss still wants to do something. It may end up as a two hour film as part of a series of films about various characters. He wants to do something with Spike and maybe with Xander. He still wants to shoot it but the world needs Joss Whedon to do some movies and that's what he's doing.

Twiglett · 18/11/2004 14:08

ahhhhhh spike

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 14:09

Spike eh. We have a lady who works in our warehouse who's got pictures of Spike plastered all over her walls. It's like a shrine.

Did you know he's actually american?

Oh that is terrible news, I hope they change their minds, I think it would make great tv! Does anyone know whether they are going to make another series of that supernatural bbc show, where the ex priest and this nurse investigate strange going ons!

yingers74 · 18/11/2004 14:11

yes and isn't he texan or something, great accent

motherinferior · 18/11/2004 16:16

OK, so the second show has been commissioned and shown in the states, apparently no dates yet for showing it here.

DaddyCool · 18/11/2004 16:20

Cool, just hope someone buys it over here.

Was "Dead Like Me" the one where the girl was killed by a flying toilet seat? if so, yes I really liked this, it was more adult than I'd expected with a bit of language in it.

DillyDally · 18/11/2004 16:23

Spike has a band he plays in and sometimes does tours in the UK...
the sad things I know.
