Is this series suitable for 14/15 year olds? I can't watch myself to figure it out (squeamish) but I think my DC would find it really interesting (wants to be a doctor).

They really don't show much of the surgical stuff tbh it happens off camera.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/02/2022 08:32

oh i dont think so,
it is Warts and All, much negativity

SoupDragon · 10/02/2022 08:34

I don't think so. Unless you want them to come away with the impression that all doctors are utter wankers.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/02/2022 08:35

suggest they read the book?

BeyondMyWits · 10/02/2022 08:39

The guy himself is really not the best advert for a medic. Would not watch it. I read his book, was not great, he really does not like women, and seemed to have made the wrong choice of profession.

Though I imagine it will have been made glossy and funny for telly.

I'm not sure it's much worse than Eastenders tbh

Depends on the individual but I'd have watched it at that age and no problems

SPOILER

It does deal with suicide (very reserved about what actually happens, but it is very sad). I think that is the main reason I'd have reservations about my young teen seeing it.

Also, there are some romantic gay scenes (my own teen finds any soppy stuff hugely embaarassing mum, but yours may not, I guess)

Just watched the series
Couple of birth scenes but nothing like "Bodies" which was full on !
(Series of a similar theme )

Funny and sad

Goodness, me and DH were watching through our fingers, there seemed to be loads of cutting people open and rooting around inside! I haven’t read the book but from what I have heard of it the TV show seems better, more rounded etc. It definitely would put me off being a doctor though!
