Albert Square or Coronation Street? Where would you rather live?

Obviously huge difference in property prices/rent. But that aside...
I think the Vic and Kathy's look better than the Rovers and Roys Rolls is awful! Can't understand why it hasn't been redecorated at least!
What else would be in the pros and cons?

Only watched Eastenders and it’s been a few years, but I was always impressed by how many people they could fit in those terraced houses. There was a real abundance of rooms! Pretty scary murder rate though.

Ha ha yeah you take your life in your hands living in either! High probability of losing at least one child too, plus never having a happy Christmas ever again!!

I want to live in Coronation Street, in the 79s, 80s and 90s. Maybe into the early 00s but not after that (ruined, I tell you, ruined!!)

MichaelAndEagle · 03/02/2022 20:26

Corrie in the old days would be lovely place to live i agree.
Its the nostalgia that keeps me watching both!

They've got that little park we sometimes see in Eastenders, never see the red rec I don't think.
Plus the allotments!

We saw the Red Rec in the olden days, when Emily was protesting there, and when Toyah and Spider finally got it together during the eclipse

Did we? I'd forgotten that.
They do seem to have a more limited set on corrie these days.

Haven’t watched Corrie in a while but haven’t they got that little outdoor walled sitting area near the new shops? Somebody got married there and everyone goes to sit there to cry in public until another person comes to comfort them and/or murder them.

icecreamgirl94 · 03/02/2022 20:41

Roy’s Rolls is timeless! I’d eat breakfast there every day if I lived there 😊 Property prices are also pretty decent compared to where I live and they can get at least 8 people living in a 2 up 2 down so I’m definitely heading up north! 😬

MichaelAndEagle · 03/02/2022 20:42

Yeah they do. And now there's a memorial garden to the latest murder victim too.

I've been watching Classic Corrie, and it's really noticeable that they go to more places away from the Street, and use extras much more, which makes it feel more rounded (a slice of life, rather than a bubble of heightened life - I've stopped watching the modern versions of both)

Catching up on Classic from last week, and there's been the hospital (various locations), a court (lobby and court room) a restaurant and a school's football tournament (players, parents, action on pitch and on sidelines)

GeneLovesJezebel · 04/02/2022 07:45

Corrie has been bad for years, yet I can’t stop watching it as it’s been in my life for 30+ years.

I wonder if this is a covid thing?
