Watching a very wierd programme on MORE4 Child Genius

anyone seen or watching this? there is one family in particular that are quite disturbing

If it's a repeat from last year then I think I know the family you mean! If you google them, the news items that pop up are even more disturbing!

the family with the 'achievement being more important than birthdays?'

the mother has wild staring eyes....

And the dad had weird hair...

I've switched over to watch as they were fascinating.

yes thats them, the children sit like statues and as for the 11plus passing ceremony ffs no wonder children are hanging themselves with pressure

the boy who challenges everything -Dante reminds me of my own ds1 who's 3.9. He challenges everything we say and exhausts us with his arguing.

God, have we got sofa turning over at 11 to look forward to?

I think some of the parents deserve medals for trying to support them but others are just plain wierd

I always feel sad for that little boy who only hangs around with his dad and grandad

I guess they feel they have nothing in common with other children their age but I think is a parents job to balance being a genius with being a 6-8-11 year old etc.

she is definately on a diffeerent planet, how does she know they are Drs and scientists of the future? they could end up popstars or artists or whatever

I think that family's parents are strange and that's why people don't like the family. The parents just conveniently blame it on the childrens' intelligence....

people just stare at us...........lol
she talk like she is on helium for a start lol and the children look like they are hypnotised

Dantes parents seem very nice and normal, I think they really do just want him to be happy

I agree, they aren't that bothered about the IQ test result. They just want him to have friends and be happy.

most of the others seem really nice, I agree with what that lady just said though about moving and changing so often the child sees themselves as a problem or an oddity

Every segment I'm thinking "poor Adam" "poor Dante" "poor Peter". I just want them to be happy

exactly and I am sure the parents do too,

these slimfast adverts are a bit odd too!

chocolatemummy, the Grafton-Clarks you mean? If you look for the earlier threads on here about it you'll see that they had other families before creating their little "genius" cluster. And one of the daughters they dumped is a mumsnetter.

It is a very sad thread.

How heartless can 2 people be??

It makes me wonder how intelligent they are as how will their 'new' children feel when they find out their parents have abandoned a family each? Will they now live in constant fear that if they don't live up to the expectations of the house then they will be abandoned too?
