New thread for the guesses!

OP posts:

I was reading that small children love this show. they have no idea who anyone is but just love watching singing traffic cones/pandas/roborabbits.

I believe there's a tour coming up, but no idea hpw that works if the whole premise is we don't know who they are, but now we do. Aled's signed up already.

Yes, 8yo DD absolutely loves it but we inevitably spend twenty minutes after each reveal on YouTube to show her who the famous person was.

There was an advert for the tour during one of the ad breaks last night. It's clearly being targeted at families as the ad made a point of saying that the Birmingham date on 5 April is in the Easter holidays. Unfortunately someone in the marketing team didn't do their research; schools in the West Midlands and surrounding areas don't break up for Easter until Friday 8 April this year!

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2022 09:38

I would imagine 'Walking in the Air' was watched a few times on YouTube last night. Grin

I need to know more about the tour. If they are keeping their costumes on they could just send someone else in. If they aren't in their costumes then they're not The Masked Singer. And 'take it off' will be pointless whatever...

Raahh · 06/02/2022 09:44

Sparkling this is my experience of it- DD2 isn't a toddler, shes 11, 9 when series 1 started- but she barely recognises any of the acts- she just likes the costumes (and watching me get irritated by the judges Grin).

I always wondered how a live show would work- given that this is pre-recorded, and they can edit it afterwards to make sure we don't see that actually yes, they did guess Sophie Ellis Bextor straightaway- but just didn't air that bit. All we get to see is what they want us to see, and the idea that the panel give clueless guesses.

That can't happen live- so how does will it work- will the panel be scripted, and the audience get to guess? ( And will the acts change every week- won't be able to keep it secret if Auntie Doris saw it last week and told you that Vacuum Cleaner is that bloke 8 of 10 Cats.Ruins it a bitGrin).

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2022 09:44

I've looked at the tour info it says-

For the first time ever, your favourite characters will be brought to life live on stage, as different mystery celebrities are unmasked at the end of every performance.

And also-

We cannot guarantee the appearance of any particular cast or characters

Tickets are £30-£40 so it's a bit of a gamble.

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2022 09:47

And will the acts change every week- won't be able to keep it secret if Auntie Doris saw it last week and told you that Vacuum Cleaner is that bloke 8 of 10 Cats.Ruins it a bit

Exactly! Everyone filming it on their phones and sticking it on the 'Gram ruining it for the next night? Confused
I don't understand!

Raahh · 06/02/2022 10:24

Blimey! £30-£40 to find out it's the only random left from series 2 of Love Island who hasn't been on Strictly/Dancing on Ice/CelebrityMaster Chef .

I wouldn't have a clue.

Or it could be Lisa Stansfield. Finally.

Grin.

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2022 10:27

When the SCD tour is on there's picture after picture of the dancers and slebs coming out of various hotels around the country wherever they're staying.
If you worked in a hotel in Birmingham say on the date that the Masked Singer tour came to town and Lisa Stansfield checks in then bingo! I need this explaining to me.

Raahh · 06/02/2022 10:36

Sparkling exactly- unless they all walk around in costume- all the time.

Or half a dozen drama students are employed as 'stunt doubles' to wander about dressed as Champagne Flute/Scottie Dog - whilst Lisa/James Blunt get bundled out the back of the theatre under blankets.

We need answers Grin.

charliebear78 · 06/02/2022 10:36

Yes I don't know how the tour will work-My Hairdresser has tickets so will ask her.
I really did not like Rockhoppers voice, and tbh not really loved most of the others performances.
Mushroom probably has the best voice but I am not bothered in the least about CC.
I usually haver one or two faves and get behind them but this series I am just not as interested and although I guess Robobunny is my fave I just have not enjoyed a lot of the songs he has been given to sing.
Joan looked confused and bored throughout and actually made me feel a bit that way too!!!!
I loved Robin and Badger last Series( gutted Sausage won)
Guest Judges I have enjoyed were Kelly and Sharon, Alan Carr and Nicola( who guessed Badger straight away)

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2022 10:37

We really do. If it's fully explained I might even get a ticket. Grin

TitsInAbsentia · 06/02/2022 19:30

I think Rita has picked Mark's name up from Twitter. It's a dead cert to be him and I hope he wins as he sounds amazing.

Still sticking with Natalie Imbruglia for Panda, I listened to her debut album non stop, she's tiny, she went to the states and did some acting and now she lives in the UK and has done lots of festival performances - she's at a new one in Norfolk next summer so great timing to get herself out there again.

CC for mushroom.

What was the point of the clues at ten? They were so utterly random and useless Confused I felt as befuddled as Joanie....

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2022 19:33

I think Rita has picked Mark's name up from Twitter

I thought the show was recorded last October?

WeAreTheHeroes · 06/02/2022 19:52

He was probably suggested weeks ago and it was edited out. No way Rita could time travel though.

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2022 20:49

I had a Google-

The Masked Singer series 3 filming took place between 1 and 11 November in 2021 at Bovingdon Studios at Bovingdon Airfield near Hemel Hempstead

AppleJane · 07/02/2022 17:38

Within 3 seconds of first hearing Panda sing I said Natalie Imbruglia so I'm hoping it's her, it'll be the only one I've ever got right without clues!

I think her clues were - right up my street = Ramsay Street, Neighbours.
And 'ripped' = Torn song. But it just sounds so like her you don't need clues!!

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2022 09:50

Re the live tour, Joel Dommet is on Lorraine and he says there'll be 'two new reveals a night and lots of your favourite characters' Plus guest judges such as Denise Van Outen.

TinselAngel · 10/02/2022 14:12

So (not that I'll be going) does that mean two new celebs every night of the tour, or just two extra for the whole tour and everyone is supposed to keep it a secret?

Raahh · 12/02/2022 11:24

I'm still baffled by the tour idea- there is no way things can be kept a secret.

I am looking forward to the final though.

I suppose it was inevitable that someone from a past series would turn up as a judge.

Talking of past acts from TMS- The new 'Stars in their Eyes' rip off, Starstruck starts tonight, after this ends. Jason Manford is a judge , i think. Olly Murs is the host.

And Sheridan Smith is a judge - she's never been on TMS- but she's always a top guess Grin.

I'm not sure if I will manage to keep awake if I watch that Grin.

Raahh · 12/02/2022 11:26

Turn up as a judge on the tour, I meant- I realised that didn't make sense after I posted it Grin.

ISpyCobraKai · 12/02/2022 12:35

I v vaguely considered going just incase Lewis Capaldi showed up in a costume, but I figure it'll be full of squeeling primary school kids so swiftly changed my mind!

V much looking forward to the final tonight though.

IsaLating · 12/02/2022 16:31

Cant believe we are at the final already!

I'm going:

Panda- Natalie Umbrella
Mushroom - Charlotte Church
Robobunny - Mark Westlife

Pootle40 · 12/02/2022 18:31

Can't wait for tonight's final. I think Robobunny will do it but would be happy with panda too - who doesn't like Natalie imbruglia 😃

30not13 · 12/02/2022 18:34

Robobunny ftw. Not much of a clue of who anyone is I'll be honest but I'm happy that I guessed at least one person this year (Will Young)

RainbowZebraWarrior · 12/02/2022 18:35
