Ahhhh. 1930s set period drama in Portofino. Clichés, stereotypes, BUT it looks absolutely beautiful. In a grey and dreary January it's like a ray of sunshine. Give it a go, get yourself a limoncello, and imagine you're there on the terrace overlooking the Med.Smile

I've watched the first episode and agree it's certainly lovely to look at. All the usual introductions and back stories of the main characters are revealed in the opener, and quite a few signposts for future plots but we'll have to see how it shapes up. I've seen a review which described it as a mash up of Downton Abbey and the Durrells and it does have that vibe, although whether it matches up to either remains to be seen. Mind you, right now I'd happily partake of a cocktail on the terrace as the sun disappears over the horizon. It's possibly a little unlucky that it has launched in the same week as The Gilded Age.

Oh thanks Rhubarb off to seek out The Gilded Age. Downton plus Durrell, maybe with a touch of Catherine Cookson, is a fair description. But it still looks lovely.

I’ve watched the first 3 episodes and although it’s quite cliched I am enjoying it . The setting is beautiful .

I've watched it all now. The door is clearly open for a second series as there are unresolved plotlines. An easy watch, and beautiful too. I can't fault the designers. I don't usually feel this about series that you can binge watch, but I think I might have preferred to watch this in weekly episodes. There are some things I prefer in regular small chunks like Call the Midwife or The Durrells and as longwayoff said it's a little splash of sunshine with some drama thrown in and maybe that's best taken at a leisurely pace.

I've just started watching this, as saw the second series advertised and thought it looked good. Am suffering with a horrible cold, and this was just the light sunny uplift I needed.
