I need something new to watch, and like things that have a pleasant setting and involve people generally being nice to each other! (Rather cheesy I know, but I find that type of thing relaxing!)

My favourite thing I’ve watched recently is Good Trouble. I also like Soundtrack, Chesapeake Shores, Virgin River and Heartland. Could anyone recommend anything similar, please?!

I also quite like Good Witch. I tried Parks and Recreation but wasn’t that keen.

Do you have Prime? "This Is Us" is free and very similar to the shows you mentioned

FromEden · 19/01/2022 20:43

Schitts creek?

HermioneWeasley · 19/01/2022 20:44

“The good place” on Netflix

lemonpi · 19/01/2022 20:44

I don’t have Prime but could maybe get it. (My TV doesn’t have the Prime app - not sure why not - I need to find out whether there’s a way to get it!)

At home sick today with the same spec and settled on 911 lone star

Looked as it could be quite grim, cancer, death, racism, addiction but they swerved all that instead for people being kind and Rob Lowe fussing about his hair

theculture · 19/01/2022 20:47

Doh it was Disney! I only have those two!

Yutes · 19/01/2022 20:48

This Is Us is also on Disney+

I find This Is Us quite emotional though.

Emily in Paris is easy to watch and feel good on Netflix

XelaM · 19/01/2022 20:48

Not sure if "Parenthood" is on iplayer, but it's amazing and similar to the shows you like

lemonpi · 19/01/2022 20:50

Thank you for the ideas!

If you can get the Prime app definitely try This Is Us, I think it’s on its 6th or 7th series now so a lot to binge.l!

Taswama · 19/01/2022 22:24

I quite enjoyed Bump on iPlayer.

lemonpi · 20/01/2022 11:17

Thank you!

Definitely Schitts creek

Abcdefu · 20/01/2022 11:28

Grace and frankie?

PatriotCanes · 20/01/2022 11:42

Outsiders, and Ghosts on iplayer.

Parenthood for some bizarre reason is only available for buying on Amazon. Given it's from the same stable as This is Us & Brothers and Sisters I don't know why they aren't trying to get people to watch it! I ended up getting second hand DVDs. It's brilliant.

XelaM · 20/01/2022 13:06

@PatriotCanes I LOVED "Parenthood"!! It's soooo good!! I streamed it online for free Blush but I agree, it's so underrated because it's difficult to find for free

lemonpi · 22/01/2022 19:39

Thanks so much for the recommendations!

Gilmore Girls! Agree with the Ghosts recommendation too, it’s brilliant

LittleSnakes · 22/01/2022 19:42

The Detectorists. On iplayer. It’s so good and calm and funny.

Cocolapew · 22/01/2022 21:45

I started the Detectorists after seeing it recommended on here and just love it.

Serendip20 · 22/01/2022 21:55

If you liked The Good Place then I imagine you’ll like Schitt’s Creek which is incredibly warm/funny/positive. I also started watching Gilmore Girls from scratch during lockdown specifically because I’d heard it was feel good and I would highly recommend (although I’m only on season 4). Very nostalgic as well.

Ihaveaskedyouthrice · 22/01/2022 22:17

Definitely Schitts Creek. Such a feel good show, I absolutely loved it.

CurbsideProphet · 22/01/2022 22:22

I recommended this on another thread. If you like Virgin River then Sweet Magnolias is worth a try. I really enjoyed both. I also love Gilmore Girls.
"Pleasant setting people being generally nice to each other" is exactly what I like to watch too 🙂
