Anyone else seen this?

I absolutely loved it. Not your typical Disney film where they go off on an adventure with an animal sidekick, which was a nice change of pace.

The music and songs are fantastic (Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the lyrics - he did Moana and Hamilton), I’ve been singing “We don’t talk about Bruno” all day!

I definitely won’t mind watching this repeatedly with DS Grin.

Same! Absolutely loved it. Surface Pressure and we Don't talk about Bruno are such fantastic songs, and the whole thing is just so bursting with beauty. Wonderful.

Oh we have watched it 3 times already in this house and I am constantly humming the songs!
Fantastic film!

Yes those are definitely the strongest songs in the film.

I loved the little Easter eggs to other Disney films in there too. Every time I watch I try to spot a new one!

Bruno shouting ‘Let it go’ and Mirabel saying to Antonio ‘let’s get you to your door’ (what Sully says to Boo in Monsters Inc) are my favourites.

We watched it this afternoon and really enjoyed it too!

Danikm151 · 30/12/2021 19:58

I thought it was ok. Not as great as the hype but still enjoyable.
Some songs kind of got lost within the action which is a shame. Nice message though
Love the house’s personality

I didn't like it at all. Couldn't follow the story line and nothing much seemed original.

Firefly89 · 30/12/2021 20:24

We loved it, ds 3 has been listening to the songs all day! He particularly loves Surface Pressure and of course ‘we don’t talk about Bruno’. One of the few films I’m happy to watch over again!

PlanktonsComputerWife · 30/12/2021 20:32

I don't watch too many Disney films, so it might be normal, but the songs felt ridiculously exposition-heavy. None of them would stand on their own outside the context of the film. Most musicals would have at least a few songs- on love, or your favourite things, or growing up, or whatever- that you could sing or listen on their own, and they'd make their own kind of sense.

There's already a lengthy thread on this.

Really didn’t like it. The storyline was ok but the songs weren’t catchy at all.
