EastEnders - full of festive misery as usual.

End of tonight's episode:

Cheery Christmas music plays as Billy, Honey and their babies stand on the freezing cold street next to their furniture after being turfed out of their flat, Billy also having been exposed as the scumbag who stole charity money.

Lauren sits on the bed watching video footage of her father's affair.

Stephen is on the verge of suicide yet again.

And we all know they're saving the whole Max and Stacey's affair is revealed storyline for Christmas day.

There wasn't one cheerful moment in the whole show.

Last year was the same with the whole dead Pauline/deranged Joe/Sonia accused of murder storyline.

Why do they do it to us every year and why do we keep watching?

I watch eastenders from Febuary to October. I would rather eat my own eyeballs/slash my wrists than watch during the xmas season.

I agree it is miserable but i watch it and feel better about my own life.

LyraSilvertinsel · 20/12/2007 21:34

I just feel dragged down by it, especially by the Billy and Honey storyline. maybe I should stop watching.

stop watching. I find life quite a lot nicer without most TV actually.

kittylouise · 20/12/2007 21:40

I used to watch eastenders all the time, haven't bothered for a couple of years.

Actually had it on in the background tonight whilst doing christmas stuff and thought it was the same old same old miserable churned out crap.

And that girl who plays Honey is one of the most annoying actresses ever!

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 20/12/2007 21:41

evicted at Christmas - what a cliche! Unfortunately it really happens to some people - but that's no reason to have it littering our screens and depressing everyone!

lojomamma · 20/12/2007 21:47

Yeah, but what if you are about to be evicted tomorrow, and was watching EE tonight. That would be it. You would have to do yourself in.

MummyPenguin · 20/12/2007 21:48

I don't mind Honey, but Lauren is a terrible actress.

ernest · 21/12/2007 08:15

but they talk aout doing a fun one but ecide to go for miserable so that people who are having a shit time can be comforted by the fact that Estenders are having an even worse one. Do they not understand that most people feel dragged down by it and could do with cheering up???

LyraSilvertinsel · 21/12/2007 10:38

I think the writers have a yearly competition to see how much misery they can cram into the Christmas episodes.
