I just finished Maid Season one on Netflix, and it's brill. I wanted to talk about it but it's impossible to talk about it without giving things away. So anyone seen all ten episodes and have an opinion on it?

I wonder how much is true.

Yes, I'll talk about it! I finished it yesterday and really enjoyed it, felt like it could've been a couple of episodes shorter but I absolutely loved the final episode, it was a perfect ending. The actors were all fab especially Alex and the little girl was adorable. Loved Denise too...what a beautiful soul she was. Great series. Alex had a couple of opportunities to get out by accepting help from others but I liked the fact that in the end her journey to college was all from her own efforts.

Loved it.

Do you know that Alex and her Mom are actually mother and daughter in real life?

I think it was a fair representation of the plight of women leaving an unhappy relationship, refuge bound and trying to provide for their child/ren.
I hope it was an accurate depiction of the American welfare system and the struggles / red tape.

The Mother drove me nuts!! I wouldn't have had Alex's patience.

Depressing to watch at times, especially as a single mother on a low income.

I also wouldn't have had Alex's patience! Hard to comprehend. Enjoyed the series but how did she manage with nothing? She took the mick at Regina's meeting an on line date - is that relatable? Also thought her dad would end up good, but he was a shit! So was her mum tbh.

It's a limited series. There is no season 2 sorry Grin

But I loved it and I'm glad it ended how it did.

duvetdrama yes loved it .

But at times felt she made. Some odd choices ImSoMagical yes inviting Tinder date over rather foolish. Wonder if that happened or not! How much is based on real life.
