The dialogue's not that great, is it?

Kathyate6mincepies · 20/12/2007 20:20

"Don't bring it on unless you can handle it" - very Victorian

merryTissmas · 20/12/2007 20:30

never read Oliver Twist, just saw the musical film, so who is Julin Rhind-Tutt?

Don't like Bill Sykes, he's creepy.

Maidamess · 20/12/2007 20:33

I think its great, I think The Artful Dodger has been great too. If anything the boy who is playing Oliver is the weakest.

Find Bill Sikes strangely alluring, but then found Ollie Reed deadly attractive in the role too.

BroccoliSpears · 20/12/2007 20:33

I'm quite enjoying it. Bit of fluff each evening to unwind to.

BroccoliSpears · 20/12/2007 20:34

Ooh, and I have SUCH a crush on JRT. Mmmmmmmmmmm.

Kathyate6mincepies · 20/12/2007 20:35

I think it's not a patch on Cranford
Do love Dickens normally, I just think it hasn't been very well adapted. The casting is brill, though.

merryTissmas · 20/12/2007 20:39

who is the delicious Julian, then?

MummyPenguin · 20/12/2007 21:46

Never mind bloody Oliver Twist, where the hell was Waterloo Road?

ArcticRoll · 20/12/2007 21:58

Agree that the Artful Dodger is very annoying.
Only watched tonight's episode but feel it's lacking in something.
I usually love Timothy Spall but found his accent grating.

JackieNoel · 20/12/2007 22:00

Julian Rhind-Tutt was in Green Wing. And the Barclaycard adverts.

slayerette · 21/12/2007 11:18

How oh how can Tom Hardy be attractive as Bill Sikes?

What is wrong with me???

RoxyNotFoxy · 21/12/2007 18:17

The best thing in it was Sophie Okonedo as Nancy. Brilliant actress.

Izzybel · 21/12/2007 18:22

Why does Fagin have a funny accent though? Thought he was meant to be cockney!

yulemoonfiend · 21/12/2007 18:24

So glad it's not just me finding Bill strangely alluring (and no, I don't usually go for bad boys...)

RoxyNotFoxy · 22/12/2007 17:12

Now that Nancy's dead, I've lost interest. The rest of it is pants. Even Timothy Spall is pants. He usually isn't.

LIZS · 22/12/2007 17:13

Fagin is supposed to be Jewish isn't he ?

Freckle · 22/12/2007 17:15

DS2 and DS3 were in this as extras. They were workhouse children in the scene where Oliver asks for more. I only spotted them because I recorded it and then went through it frame by frame!

I am enjoying it though but have guffawed at some of the "Victorian" language. More Walford if you ask me.

Twinklemegan · 22/12/2007 23:07

I thought it was a great adaptation. Really pacey and I thought the music really added to it. I've no idea how faithful it was because it's ages since I read the novel (I must dig it out again) but I really enjoyed it. Although sadly I thought tonight's final episode was the weakest.
