What is Britbox?? Call the midwife

I'm looking to watch season 8-10 of call the midwife. I'm pretty sure I watched the the first number of series on Netflix, but none of it appears to be on there now.
I have amazon prime too, but it's not on there, when I find it on amazon it wants me to pay for something called "brit box" I've never even heard of that. Any one know if it is on either of those streaming services?

I'm in ROI, but our Netflix/ Amazon run off the UK one. We can't stream from ITV etc though, well you can if you get a VPN but I haven't figured out how to do that on the fire stick (well tbh I haven't tried!)

Britbox is just another streaming service, like Netflix.

Have you googled “where can I watch Call The Midwife”? If you can’t find it on your Netflix or Amazon Prime then they don’t have it and you’ll have to pay. You might be able to get a free trial of the service it’s on though.

I have BritBox and it looks like series 1 to 9 and 2 Xmas specials are on there, can't see a series 10

BestIsWest · 19/12/2021 22:01

They are all on iplayer.

Snozzlemaid · 19/12/2021 22:02

There are 10 seasons all on BBC iPlayer.

BestIsWest · 19/12/2021 22:02

Ah sorry, just saw you are ROI.

@BestIsWest I did just look up RTE player though and they have season 8 :) Just to figure out if I can get that onto my fire stick thing now.

I was just annoyed with amazon that I already pay for prime and now they want us to pay for another streaming service!

Britbox isn't anything to do with amazon, they don't want you to pay for another service but presumably britbox are willing to pay more than amazon for recent series.

Stuff moves around the streaming services all the time in England ime, maybe it's not the same in ROI. Britbox is a very known service here

Brtibox is a streaming service aimed originally at Americans, like me, (but now significantly expanded) who like to watch TV series and other content that originates in the UK. I access it in the US though my Amazon account.

CoffeeWithCheese · 21/12/2021 09:01

Britbox has loads of the old BBC/ITV stuff on it. I have it mainly for the new Spitting Image (although 2021 takes the piss out of itself enough), plus I tend to dip into things like old Yes Minsters from time to time - and Maid Marian and Her Merry Men!

If I had to prune the streaming TV services it would probably be the one that DH would want to let go, but it's the one I watch the most so he'd lose that battle.

Britbox does have something to do with Amazon though, as you can either subscribe directly or through Amazon as one of their add-on channels. Both offer a free trial period I believe.

Not sure how that works for customers in the ROI though, you might have to do that thing where your computer pretends it's in another country (in this case the UK).

VPN it's called. Too complicated for me though! I hope you get to watch Call the Midwife , OP
