So IMNSHO:

Miranda would have her own boutique law firm.
She’d have either ditched Steve or sorted out their sex life - this is the woman with a vibrator in her nightstand who refused to take any sermonising from her cleaner, Magda. She would not be an alcoholic although entirely possibly might sleep with women.

Carrie would have her own podcast asking the questions 50 something women want answers to: how to cope with teens, HRT etc. Big wouldn’t be dead and they’d be showing us a happily married couple with no kids.

Charlotte’s kids would be FINE, not questioning their gender FFS

Steve wouldn’t be deaf and Harry wouldn’t be grateful to be able to pee.

There wouldn’t be the Che character

It would be funny. They would be enjoying their lives as rich professional 50 something women.

Samantha would be in it

Your version sounds great

I think they’ve forgotten most of us watch certain shows for escapism and humour.

I think if Cinthia Nixon wasn’t bi in real life, there’s no way they would have contemplated that storyline for her character.

I think Samantha being on it would be top in anyone’s list, she really was a breath of fresh air.

Netaporter · 17/12/2021 11:58

Carrie would have her own publishing house promoting other promising young writers. She’d also curate a fashion line collab with a major fashion house and have a column Vogue.

Louise from St Louis would be back in her life as part of her publishing house

Charlotte would be in the educational arms race all mothers are in Manhattan to get her girls into the best school.

Samantha would’ve been killed off and that would’ve been kinder.

Smith would be back.

Miranda would still be a hot shot lawyer. Steve would have a chain of bars. He could still be deaf but it would not be an issue.

The fact that Harry does not look well would be part of the story line…

CruellaDeVilla · 17/12/2021 12:33

Totally agree about Charlotte and NYC schools

And Smith, oh how nice would that be?

I would never have killed off Big.

boogiewithasuitcase · 17/12/2021 12:44

Gloria is Carrie's Secretary. Carrie takes her shopping and gives her a fashionista makeover.

VodselForDinner · 17/12/2021 12:53

Carrie would remain a technophobe and would be touring the (non-Covid) world on booktours.
She would not be doing that lousy podcast.

Big would be alive, retired, and set-up a business in whiskey, along with Steve.

Miranda would move into a public legal role. assistant state attorney, aiming to be the next RBG.
She’s have gone back in time and gone ahead with that abortion.

Charlotte would be living in Connecticut and have a side business as a mummy-influencer.
Harry would commute to the city.
Rose would just be a bog-standard tomboy.

Samantha would be doing what she always does, in NYC. Then the series would once again be a comedy.

Slayduggee · 17/12/2021 14:00

Miranda would quit her law firm and make a run for major or work for the UN and would be 55 and in her prime.

Charlotte would still be a Park Avenue princess with a house in the Hamptons. Rose is a tomboy and wins a top science prize for teenagers. Charlotte learns to accept Rose is fabulous in her own way.

Carrie runs a successful business specialising in vintage couture and is a massive hit with celebrities.

Samantha sold her massively successful PR business. She set now set up a new widely successful business that encourages women to be sexually confident and selling products that encourage women to enjoy sex and organisms pre and most menopause.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 17/12/2021 14:04

Big would not be a sex pest in real life.

VodselForDinner · 17/12/2021 14:45

selling products that encourage women to enjoy sex and organisms

She should call it “Amore and Amoeba” Grin

CruellaDeVilla · 17/12/2021 16:33

Yes to Samantha sex toys business!

Doh! Orgasms! Kind of mirroring real life as Kim wrote a boon about the art of the female orgasm, but in my version Sam would invent something revolutionary and become a billionaire!

StarryNightSparkles · 17/12/2021 17:05

Carrie would not always have 2 bags on her. Has anyone else noticed this ? For some reason it really annoys me😕

That's as far as I've got but love all the above ideas 😊

frogswimming · 17/12/2021 17:13

Your versions sound so much better!

TyrannosaurusRights · 17/12/2021 20:42

Samatha and Smith are in it and together, showing a woman who is happy without kids and a younger man who hasn’t left her for a still fertile model. They have a fabulous lifestyle. Samantha is top of her game. Smith is no longer acting as younger hunks have taken his ad spots and token hottie roles. He is surprisingly happy with this and has taken on a very normal office job and the housework.

Miranda is either a super successful lawyer or in politics. Love the Steve has bars/a whiskey business ideas from above so let’s keep that. Brody keeps his sex life away from the screen.

Charlotte is raising strong girls who aren’t confused about who they are. The school thing above rings true. She and Harry are happy together. In the big twist he’s now working part time, and so is she. She’s become what everyone around them thinks is moderately successful at sourcing art for celebrities, big companies and the powerful. Secretly she is now the breadwinner in terms of income.

Carrie and Big are still together. She’s no longer writing. We explore that feeing of becoming invisible as a middle aged/older woman through her. It’s counterpoint is that Big is faithful to her, but remains important at work with plenty of women flirting with him.

YES to all of the above!! Especially Miranda being the strong no shit taken character I loved. Having a hard time with this sexless, alcoholic, blabbering version of her. So painful.
