MF - i'm a SAHM and my ds1 (2.2) watches quite a bit of morning telly. he likes it. he knows the names of the characters and some of the songs, but isn't that just helping him learn to communicate? we always do 'productive' stuff in the afternoon and feel we have a good balance, it enables me to get on with all the things that need doing and he know i'm right there if he does want something. he does lose interst sometimes and then i know hes had enough and its time to do something else.

I tend to have it on in the background a lot of the time, but they dont sit glued to it all the time, they watch a bit then go off and do something.
Funnily I dont tend to put it on when DD1 (4) is at playschool, and it is just dd2 (16 mths), tho she does ask for it now. She brings me the remoteI also think it depends what progs you have on, alot of them are educational.

I try NOT to have it on so much, does he goto playschool?? Do you at least get out of the house once a day and walk, or go to the park etc??
I often whack a dvd on too, if I need to do something.

Also he is old enough to do stuff, DD1 will sit and paint or use playdough, or draw
