I know this has probably been done to death but I've just re-watched it all and I LOVE it.

I loved it back in the day, I've got the book from the series, watched all the outtakes and have just reminded myself of how fab it was.

Will there be another Christmas special in 10 years??! I really really really hope so.

I am so glad they did the one 2 years ago, where has that time gone, and not gonna lie, truth be told, it's left me wanting more!!

Did Smithy say yes??!

I opened this thread hoping it would say that a new Christmas special is coming - such disappointment! It's a great series and I still laugh at the repeats.

I have yes, I re-watched it all last year. Apparently Rob Brydon & Ruth Jones are writing a new series together, called Gaynor & Ray.

The genius of the title is that the whole programme is not about Gavin and Stacey but Nessa and Smithy. Every single cliff hanger and story arc is about N&S. G&S are just subplots.

The intrigue is all in the supporting characters. The boat trip, Nessa's love life and history etc. Gavin and Stacey are the straight men.

We love it in this house! Proud Welsh heritage on both sides so a lot of the little details resonate. Such clever observational writing. Reminds me of Victoria Wood's style.

Peripheral characters were always the funniest, Pat and Mick mostly but who could forget Pete and Dawn!

I love it, one of my favourite TV shows. Makes me a bit nostalgic because I went to uni in Cardiff, my parents would take me to Barry Island when they came to visit. I think the genius is that it flips one dramatic rule on its head - that all dialogue has to be pertinent to the plot…the random conversations about oven gloves! Ordering a takeaway. Genius. If I had to pick a favourite episode it’s the one where they all get drunk at Pam and Mick’s before they’re meant to be playing golf/having a spa day.
I still say Who’s for the gnocchi? whenever I cook gnocchi!

maffhew I've got all the DVD's. I got one every year for Christmas when it was on.

A friend at work has NEVER seen it and she's going to start it this week. I'm so jealous she's got it so to come.

I did think after watching it again, I'm so so so so glad they did the last Christmas special and I really want one more, please!

I'm not sure I can choose a favourite episode.

I love the line from Doris, don't be going giving it all away on the first night Stace, a kiss, a cuddle, a cheeky finger!!

It's my 40th in May and am thinking of getting my boyfriend to bring me to Barry, I'm sure there is a tour.

Sounds like we are indeed getting another Christmas special if todays news is correct. I think they should leave us guessing in true G & S fashion. Have Nessa and Smithy in the same house but leave us wondering if he's just visiting or living with her married or unmarried. Its more fun if we are left to puzzle over the answers.
