just settling in to watch north and south, hasn't that ex-east enders lass(can't remember her name) done well? she looks all grown up, bless! and is that pauline quirke in the background i see?

Oh I loved it. But I wish they'd let me dye John Horton's(?) hair. I love his accent though and get to hear it all the time where I live

I love a good costume drama at this time of year, just when the nights are getting long. I agree about EastEnders girl (woman now!), she was great.

I think Mrs Gaskell lived in Knutsford and wrote about Manchester but I guess it could be based on any one of a number of Lancashire cotton producing towns.
