Isolating with DDs 11 and 13- what can we watch?!

We’ve all tested positive which means a week and a bit of the three of us at home together! I’m feeling a bit ropey… would really love to find a series to keep us all entertained.

Things they both like already- Gilmore Girls, Modern Family, Brooklyn 99

The 13yo likes Sherlock, Friends and Buffy but the 11yo doesn’t. The 11yo quite likes things like Bake Off and Come Dine With Me, but the 13yo isn’t particularly fussed.

They very rarely agree on films, apart from the weird phase they went through of watching every Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore romcom!

Thankfully we’re past the Victorious/ Sam and Cat/ weird mermaid shit stage Grin

Any suggestions?!

I would say Ted lasso is not suitable for an eleven year old, mostly ok but some sex references that are not! Maybe I’m a prude.

Work your way through the Christmas special episodes- Gavin and Stacey, Royle family, men behaving badly, only fools and horses, vicar of dibley, creature comforts, Mr Bean. There's bake off Christmas specials too. (Depending on what you feel is suitable for them of course!)

My 12 year old daughter is almost at the end of her isolation period and she has been rewatching The Dumping Ground and the 4 o clock club on CBBC. You'd think to look at her and hear her speak she'd have grown out of them but I think it's quite comforting to watch something you've seen before and doesn't need much concentration. Hope you all get better soon Flowers

Glee and US Office are both fun and easy to watch. Loads of episodes which are all pretty short. Also Melissa and Joey has a Modern Family feel.

I find Star Wars tedious but liked the Mandalorian.

I absolutely love Gavin and Stacey… never thought of watching it with the kids but actually I guess it might be alright, ages since I’ve watched it though. I have watched Derry Girls with DD1, she liked it though I spent ages explaining the 90s references!

I do have bad form for misremembering how appropriate things are though… I remember starting Ferris Bueller’s day off with DD1 when she was about 7 then suddenly realising it was pretty inappropriate!

Still So Awkward is a new series where they send Lily off to university - but maybe you've seen that too? It sets them up with a real challenge, to.put them in realistic student-y situations without anything too rude for a CBBC audience. I love it, it's hilarious.
