I know that Rose has a long term relationship and she comports herself so elegantly and with such poise. I have no way of knowing how she feels. But has anyone else got the feeling that Giovanni Pernice is completely in love with her, absolutely besotted and changed by it as a human? I know, I'm soppy.

I watched this interview live this morning and he was so sweet buy Rose is just inspirational

So glad to see such inclusively on Strictly

Pah DM link.
He looks at her so much as a way to communicate with her. They very much have a older brother / younger sister vibe, I really don't know why, when she has a partner, people are trying to make this a thing. Also think Gio is media savvy and also like the attention, and knows making puppy eyes at her will get that attention.

claymodels · 19/11/2021 23:27

He is intense with every person he works with.

Eastridingclub · 19/11/2021 23:29

No. Not at all. It's called acting.

Bouledeneige · 19/11/2021 23:41

Oh well. I've never liked him and always thought he was arrogant. And I just see him now. He seems softer and more tender. And maybe had his eyes opened to living with a disability.

I've certainly been inspired by work I've done with people with profound physical disabilities - so maybe I've read too much into it.

He looks at everyone like that. I am convinced he feels like that about me when he looks into the camera Grin

Platax · 19/11/2021 23:45

I like the way he's gone out of his way to find out how to make teaching work with her. Other pros rely quite heavily on muttering instructions to their partners, it must feel odd not to be able to do so.

Surely he will have been coached? They could hardly make a point of being inclusive and then let the public watch someone floundering without a clue how to work with her

You soft romantic, you! It’s a narrative constructed by the programme makers and the professional dancer in order to boost audience figures and the dancer’s career. There are narratives for all the dancers/contestants every year - some work, some don’t. See if you can spot some of the others.

SavoyCabbage · 20/11/2021 07:06

I agree that he always looks at everyone like that. I only started watching it when he was with Debbie McGee and he looked so in love with her.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 20/11/2021 07:13

Very much this. I also think he has realised the media attention he is getting regarding how he has grown, is a less selfish dance partner etc and is milking it for all it’s worth. He is a performer and I think the intense looks are part of his performance.
MrsPleasant · 20/11/2021 07:17

She's Deaf, not the second coming. As a pp said, I think he's enjoying the media hype and his newly elevated status as Friend of the Disabled. DD16 is profoundly Deaf and saw RAE as a bit of a role model to start, but is now very Hmm with the flag waving.

bonfireheart · 20/11/2021 09:02

Taking her out to a fancy restaurant and then post on his social media channels. Or preplanned.

bonfireheart · 20/11/2021 09:02

*All

Well, yes, @Spiceup. No-one imagines they assigned a deaf partner to him and told him to get on with it. But he's had to teach her several different dances, week after week, having totally adapted normal teaching styles, and he's obviously done it very successfully when you look at the results.

bonfireheart · 20/11/2021 09:34

Yes he has, however there's a whole team behind it, that couples choice dance had at least two other choreographers involved so he's not really toiling away on his own.

bonfireheart · 20/11/2021 09:37

Every year everyone pretends to me scandalised at the strictly affairs and I just find it so distasteful how everyone is behaving that they are loves young dream eventhough she has a long term partner. It's not romantic at all.

BiffytheUmpireSlayer · 20/11/2021 09:42

It's a constructed reality. The birthday meal with Gio was reported in such a way that you wouldn't have known that Rose's long term boyfriend was also there.
And if you watch the latest BBC Strictly Instagram video (where all the male partners are being made over as Pudsey), Giovanni comes across as something of a narcissistic a#$e imo.
