Watching it now. Horrendous

Crazycakelady17 · 08/11/2021 22:02

Awful and the statistics are disgraceful having gone through the court system and the perpetrator being charged with 9 counts against me and having to give evidence and him getting not guilty it doesn’t shock me disgusts me yes but not surprised

Thenshewasgone · 08/11/2021 22:11

Can’t face watching tonight but will do tomorrow. Awaiting CPS decision for incredibly violent brutal rape case. The 1% conviction rate makes me just want to give up. It tears your life apart, 18 months after reporting and still waiting for a decision, it’s beyond horrendous

Aquarius1234 · 08/11/2021 22:28

Not liking the coppers particularly.
Oh not Guilty! Surprise..

A 'pioneering new approach' to 'concentrate on the offender' Hmm
Yeh pathetic. Why didnt they do that anyway.

Can't believe that last case where they jury found him innocent. That poor young woman was devastated - in the true meaning of being devastated. I felt so sorry for her and her friend - and her mother. There must be a better way than this.

NotMyCat · 08/11/2021 22:33

I just...
it's such a low bar that's set "well she didn't say no/I thought she wanted it/well she said go on then I don't mind"
Why isn't it enthusiastic consent? Grabbing, kissing, responding back, helping the man undress, vocally saying yes, god forbid an orgasm is had
Sex is meant to be mutually pleasurable, not something we tolerate. Men should be looking at if a woman is lying there saying and doing nothing then WTF are you doing carrying on, why aren't you asking what's wrong, what do you like, what do you enjoy...
Angry

Sorry. It makes me angry!!

Queenoftheashes · 08/11/2021 22:58

That guy was trying people’s doors and then sat and waited for drunk women to come back and followed them straight into their room. Fuck that jury.

So sorry your having to wait so long I waited 11 months for a charging decision and then another 17 months for a trial date

Your very strong to of reported it and I hope you get the outcome you deserve
Sadly this country is disgraceful how it treats victims or sexual assault and rape

Queenoftheashes · 08/11/2021 22:59

No one actually believes a woman lying silent and stiff as a board during sex wants to be having it.

NotMyCat · 08/11/2021 23:03

@Queenoftheashes

Exactly. But it seems to be a lot of well she didn't say no/maybe she did consent rather than looking for that enthusiastic consent I get sometimes it's he said/she said but there must be a better way with rape convictions being so low. Given 1 in 4 women have been sexually assaulted then the chances are that most of those found not guilty, are actually guilty and free to do it again
LivingLaVidaBabyShower · 08/11/2021 23:07

Agree with @Queenoftheashes but it seems not everyone does...

Shocking that post 😢😡

Queenoftheashes · 09/11/2021 08:43

Jesus what a tool. It’s amazing how some women are desperate to believe the men who don’t have a long history of rape at all.

Thenshewasgone · 09/11/2021 09:48

The person I reported had a past arrest for rape that was dropped. Another woman has come forward now which has delayed things, although I hope will strengthen the case against this monster. Just wish CPS would make a decision and that it’s the right one. Same if it gets to trial, I pray a jury will see him for what he is. My life has been destroyed

purpleme12 · 13/11/2021 22:58

I tried to click on the link for the thread above but it's been deleted

Only one per cent reported get a conviction
Only 7 per cent get sent to cps
I can see why cos it's so hard to get proof
I'm trying to prove I'm being harassed but even that seems to be hard

More than two years to get to court. That's a long time

I didn't see the sex offender had a solicitor?

We never saw the other girl who was in the hotel room

MonsignorMirth · 14/11/2021 22:55

I'm only just watching this now. As this case started to be shown I said to DH 'oh, at least they're including one clear-cut 'stranger rape' case to show a guilty verdict'. FFS. Not guilty. Unanimous.

One small good thing it showed was how (with the bus passenger case) reporting 'smaller' incidents helped to identify an offender in a serious case.

purpleme12 · 14/11/2021 23:00

Yes it's true that made me think as well how it builds it up

MonsignorMirth · 14/11/2021 23:31

It's amazing the number of women who aren't going out due to fear of these attacks (and spiking etc).
The cynic in me suspects that defence lawyers would say that some women therefore acknowledge that 'going out' is risky and yet some choose to do it anyway.... therefore they are to blame for any consequences.
