Did anyone else watch The Missing Children on ITV last night?

It was about the mother and baby home in Tuam, Ireland. Absolutely shocking. The programme was very well made and will stay with me for a long time.

Absolutely heartbreaking. Can't believe how they treated the women & children, like they weren't human.

I watched it too and was so moved by it.
I am of an age so remember when "unmarried Mothers" were frowned upon, to say the least, so I can believe how badly these women would have been treated.
I think what upsets me even more, is the fact that these poor children, both the ones that survived and the ones deceased, (and their surviving relatives), continue to be mistreated today in our enlightened times.

Why are the survivors not being given every assistance to gain access to their own records?
Why are those remains being left to decompose in the "sewer"?
It's a disgrace.

The 68 year old woman who read out the letter which her Mother had written to the nuns when her daughter was 9 years old, just about finished me off.

The people responsible should burn in Hell.

Oh yes that lady reading the letter had me sobbing. Her poor mother, how many other letters like that are there that would be so priceless to the grown children searching for any info. The same with man in America who found out too late that his mother was in Philadelphia talking about making sure she a headstone. Very emotional.

I had the feeling I'd seen it before when I was watching it

Shocking
And shocking how they want to cover it up it seems still? And they still aren't really doing anything about it?
