New series with Julie Delpy and Elizabeth Shue about group of 50 something friends, their family life, relationship troubles etc, set in LA. Quite enjoying it for an easy watch. Anyone else watching?

I've not heard of this. Worth a look do you think?

I agree, I really enjoyed this. Julie Delpy is great in this, I hope they make another series.

Hello! Glad to hear from others who've enjoyed this. I still haven't finished it but getting close and would love to see another series. I love Julie Delpy's character and quite like Elizabeth Shue's but find the "spy" storyline a bit far fetched and the "social media mom" quite irritating and unbelievable but on the whole I like it. Refreshing to have some older female characters and not painting their lives as entirely tragic.

Watched it pretty much all in one go. Loved it. Love everything Julie Delpy does not least because she revisits and reworks similar themes on all her work.

This series is great . I do think you have to be of a certain age to enjoy it though. It's such an accurate representation of women of a certain age and their real life issues. The subtle characterisation of the men is brilliant.
I also really like the short format.
Can I tell you how much I love it ....☺️

Just finished this a few days ago and really hope they follow up with a second series. I liked how it ended and I imagine Justine is going to be trapped at home with her horrible husband through lockdown although in my ignorance I don't know if California had a proper lockdown in the sense that we did here in the UK?

Yes, California very much had a proper lockdown - they went into lockdown a few weeks before the UK and stayed locked down longer.

I recall reading that filming On the Verge was halted by the pandemic/lockdown(s), and it was rewritten in part so the pandemic was incorporated. However, I think the character's narratives did not change so their personal 'cliff hangers' remained the same.

I‘M watching this - I love, love, love it!!! I’m
the target age! I love Julie Delphy and Elizabeth Shue. Can’t stand the social media mom. Also can’t stand Martin - I keep shouting at Julie to LTB - she must read MN, he’s like a lot of the men on the relationship board 😂. I’m on episode 10. I hope series 2 follows soon.

I watched this and just found out it has been cancelled. All the characters were flawed but it was a good watch. I also love a show with older women and I say this as someone who has only just turned 30. You can get the impression that life doesn’t exist after a certain age due to the media.
The only one I couldn’t stand was Ell. She was awful. The spy stuff also felt a bit silly.

Anything with a similar vibe?
