Slow burn horror - very well acted.

I'm really enjoying it.

Dh is loving it. I’ve fallen asleep half way through every single episode so far BlushGrin it’s a bit Salem’s Lot meets Cocoon for me.

JollyAndBright · 03/11/2021 22:42

We watched it.

It’s definitely worth a watch.

I’m a huge fan of Mike Flanagan, I love almost everything he’s made, but I feel like midnight mass was one of his weaker projects, the ending was too rushed for me and it just felt a little lack luster.

I still enjoyed it though.

It’s definitely very well acted,
That’s one of the things Mike Flanagan is very good at, picking fantastic actors and matching them to the characters very well.
Kate Siegel (The actress who plays Erin) is in most of his projects, she is his wife and is a fantastic actress.
I have adored her since she played Theo in Hill House.

We are 4 episodes in and really enjoying it. Definitely a slow burn but it's gripping!

Well - I watched the lot and thoroughly enjoyed it.

There weren't enough car chases for DH, but I thought it was excellent, though I know what JollyandBright means about the ending. Still one of the best things I've seen for a while.

I felt like it missed an opportunity somewhere in there. There was a lot of talk about individual perceptions of death and miracles, but I felt like most of the characters embraced the concept of eternal life (at whatever cost) too quickly. Especially for people who had presumably aspired to go to heaven, why would they try to prolong life life on earth?

wizzywig · 05/11/2021 20:00

I read it as Micky Flanagan!!!

WhoWants2Know · 05/11/2021 20:36

Someone else did the same in a conversation yesterday, and cracked me up😂

Watched it a few weeks ago.

It was OK towards the end. Enjoyed the earlier episodes more.

Especially for people who had presumably aspired to go to heaven, why would they try to prolong life life on earth?

I saw it as them thinking that by dying and being "resurrected", they thought they were joining Christ in the new Kingdom, and that it was their "duty" to spread the "gospel" to each other and the mainland.

Of course they never banked on the sheer hour of what was unleashed.

I binge watched this - loved it!

Loved this. Brillant acting and story line. Still thinking about it days after it has ended.

Just watched another excellent short series (totally different type of programme) on Amazon Prime - Injustice.

Worth a watch - I'm hoping it's a "tester" series for more, though maybe not as it could possibly get "samey". We'll see.
