I've only just started watching this I'm already exhausted by it. How much work do they do themselves and how much is staged?

I watched the episode with the preserves room earlier and the amount of work which went into bring it up to scratch is phenomenal. But you only see Dick and Angel tinkering around the edges. Is that all they do and then off camera loads of others do the work? Or did Angel really spend hours upon hours upon hours cleaning and staining all those shelves?

The reason I ask is that I also have a preserves room in my cellar (very old house) that needs similar work. My room is much smaller but even so I can't find the time or energy to sort out and I don't also have a business and castle to run. Watching the programme makes me feel very lazy.

I thought the same! I liked it in the early episodes as they did seem very hands on and budget conscious. Now they're obviously quite wealthy and just tinkering around the edges it's lost it's relatability.

I thought last night's episode was awful, they're really scraping the barrel now.

Who serves black tea and rose petal sandwiches at a children's party? And the activities - aromatherapy and throwing a hoop at a hook on a post?

I think they've done all the major renovations now and it's just an advert for a slick business, as in the last series when we saw Dick laying some patio slabs in front of the Chateau. Riveting.

I still remember the Van du Vin and the wallpaper gallery, but those days are over.

I do wonder about the stuff the kids consume. My DS is quite adventurous and will try pretty much anything. But would he really enjoy a cup of fresh mint tea? Not in a million years. And rose petal sandwiches? Oh my word!

I switched off as they were renovating....when I spotted Angel's immaculately long and polished nails.

Just no way was she doing any work. 😂🤔😉

Me and the oh love watching this. Mostly because we always have a running commentary on how ridiculous things are. And course they are hand making a giant connect four rather than buying one because otherwise they would have no content for the show. And you can tell there are no events so they had to throw a random children's party for extra content. And what sort of children's party is that, kids want bouncy castles, ham triangles, plastic tat and chocolate. Not fancy tea cups and rose petal sandwiches.

Although I still watch it every week.
