Anyone else looking forward to this? Roy Marsden in the Anglia TV series of PD James' detective novels was good. Be interesting to see what Bertie Carvel does with the role.

Yes, very much so. I love the books though so my hopes will be high and I worry I'll be disappointed...

I was tempted to reread them but perhaps it's better if I don't and take it as it is. My Granny and I used to get a copy each as soon as they came out and compare notes about the TV series.

Do you know which books they're doing? I just briefly saw a trailer for it after watching something else the other night and I didn't see anything obvious. (I think there was a monk's habit at one point but even that doesn't narrow it down necessarily!)

Oh, I've found them - Shroud for a Nightingale, A Taste for Death, and the Black Tower.

All quite early ones I think.

I love PD James. She was a brilliant writer. Used to love Roy Marsden as Adam Dalgleish. I can still remember the haunting theme tune!! Martin Shaw wasn't bad either. I'll probably take a look at this. I hope they don't trash it
