I haven't seen the original but I'm on episode 4 and finding it beyond tedious. I have heavily sighed throughout and it's had rave reviews from the critics.

Just me? Has anyone seen the remake?

I thought it was awful. Pretentious nonsense and I don't really know why I persevered to the end!!!

Glad it wasn't just me then!

I got halfway through episode 2 and had to switch it off. Horrible, selfish people - I couldn't bear them!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/10/2021 18:54

I thought it was the best thing I've seen in ages, absolutely loved it. I binged it over 2 days.

Cavalierorwhat · 22/10/2021 20:09

@MrsPelligrinoPetrichor. I loved it too, my DH gave up after the 1st episode but I was hooked. Started off liking her but quickly swapped allegiance!

GreenClock · 23/10/2021 10:41

I was impressed. I thought that the acting and dialogue were outstanding. It was pretty relentless and dismal and I can’t say I “enjoyed” it but I can see why the critics were keen.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/10/2021 14:44

I loved the fact the viewer had to fill in the blanks of the story, so often these days everything is spelled out.

I'm still thinking about it days later.

Heavymetaldetector · 25/10/2021 14:46

I am just half way through ep6 and I don't care what happens next. I didn't like either of them. I thought the scenes and dialogue were amazingly acted etc but I just couldn't sympathise with either of them but felt so awful for their poor child.
Also, I don't get the point of the user pretentious opening bits of them pretending to arrive at the studio. Literally what the fuck was the point of those at all ever? Actually makes me angry to think of those bits. And the actors arriving all morose and self absorbed. Christ get over yourself. You get to do what you love every day and get paid loads for it. I am not in awe of your "process". How about going litter picking with my council employed husband in the arse end of Bradford. Then the miserable look on your faces might be slightly more justified.....yes I've gone off on a tangent here.
Back to the show, I felt for Jonathan up until I think the 4th episode? Where they shag on the sofa then she asks to come back and he's so bitter to her and determined to hurt her right back. Bleh. I don't think I'm going to finish the last half an episode I have to go. It's too depressing. And dark! Like turn on the lights!! Please? I can't see what you're doing? I think in America dark photography and speaking your lines all quiet and mumbly = very interesting and important TV only watched by the hyper intelligent who "get it". No it's not. I just can't hear or see fuck all.
I think that just about concludes my feelings for this show.

Heavymetaldetector · 25/10/2021 14:47

*uber pretentious

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/10/2021 15:12

I didn't find it dark and depressing at all but I love a bit of marital angst on the boxGrin

She only wanted to come back as she'd lost her job and things were rocky with Poli, I don't think he punished her, I think he saw it as a goodbye shag before parting their ways.

It's worth watching to the end, I didn't see the way it ending coming at all.

I do agree about the arriving at the set nonsense what was that about ? Confused

Heavymetaldetector · 25/10/2021 15:28

Ah OK. I might shove it on later if there's a surprise ending!

Lottapianos · 25/10/2021 15:40

I thought it was brilliant, and really enjoyed it, though it was tough going. They are VERY challenging characters. Script and performances were just brilliant. It's absolutely, one hundred percent not for everyone though! I can see why some would find it annoying or just plain dull

And I agree about the ridiculous 'actors walking on to set' parts. They added nothing

Heavymetaldetector · 25/10/2021 20:35

OK I finished it. I just feel like they both continued to be awful people and the cycle of hurt goes on and on. And then concluded with another stoopid post cut pretending to get up out of the scene etc. Bleh. Didn't like it! Sorry
