So funny wasn’t it! I loved it.

Have reached S3 Ep3 of Preacher.

I knew I’d eventually wish I’d never heard of it. So Much Time devoured. So many deadlines neglected. Plus the headache from staring at a screen. And is it worth it?

My heart sinks when I remember there’s still another season after this one. I wish it could have ended after S2, properly wrapped up, of course. S3 has moved to a new location, and is reasonably entertaining - and Joe Gilgun has grown into the part, as his part has grown. But I don’t give a fig about Jesse, and it’s coming to something when I’m bored of watching Ruth Negga act. (Torn about ‘Passing’, which will be available on Netflix next month - I adore Rebecca Hall as an actor so am curious about her directorial debut; two of my favourite actresses take the lead roles, but I hate the subject matter.)

Anyway, I really have to catch up on work today - so Preacher is inevitably still quite tempting …

Joe gilgun imo is the most underrated actor I can think of. He's in most of my favourite shows (brassic, misfits, TIE and preacher) and he's just so good in everything.

One think I always think about him though is his face seems to change depending on his role. Like to me Cassidy and Rudy look completely different even though I think he went straight from misfits to preacher and I think Vinnie looks totally different again.

He’s becoming more and more beautiful to me the more I watch him. The most stunning eyes … And such vitality. Really want to see him in something completely different. (As a shareholder in Succession, f’rinstance, or even a long lost relative of Logan Roy, from back home. Maybe something tragic, like Jared Harris’ ‘MadMen’ intervention. He’s that good.)

Have never seen This Is England, but it was a long time ago and I probably prefer his more mature face.

Gave up on Preacher and read the Wiki episode summaries for the rest. Then watched the very final episode for JG - gorgeous in a proper coat - at the end.

In an earlier episode he said something about loving her and being a good boyfriend & looking after Tyler something like 34% of the time but the remaining 66% of the time he'd fuck it up because of his mental health issues. Her response was that the 34% would've been enough.

He was pretty good in Emmerdale too 😀

Could have sworn I saw a Christmassy photo of them somewhere on Now TV - but that may have been a fantasy.

argh the ending! I really wanted them to get together but not sure if it's been left hanging for another season maybe?

Gilgun is one of my favourite actors, and I like how he has been able to bring some of his own mental health issues in to this show. he really is a troubled soul, if you get a chance listen to the Two Shot podcasts he is in, there is a part one and a part two.

Resurrecting this thread due to series 4 out on Wednesday can't wait

Hmm …

Is it that I’ve changed, or have they? I’m only finding it mildly amusing. The individual characters are still fun - mostly. Just all seems to lack the sharp edge of urgency and danger.

But I’ve only seen Ep1. Will persevere.

I read an interview with Joe Gilgun and he said he doesn't want it to become like shameless where it goes on way past it's best, so I don't think we'll get many more series to enjoy.

Watched 4 episodes so far not really impressed and DH who laughed like a seal first episode s4 not really thought much of the other 3 so far

Watched the first 2 episodes of the new series, not impressed at all so far , I really hope the next episodes get better - has it run out of steam?

Ep6 is good! And I’m beginning to grasp the theme of this season.

Until then it just seems like a waste of brilliance. It all still looks wonderful, some of the individual performances are fun(ny), and the way they express friendship and take care of each other is well written - but the capers lack heart. Apart from the odd instance (spoilers!) it’s all too superficial until Ep6.

Ep7 is a work of epic genius.
