Question about latest series of grey's anatomy (contains spoilers)

When jackson left why did grey say she won, ie the last one left? Jackson and april joined from the other hospital quite a bit later than the start.
She also made a comment about she knew about his name when she met him. Im aure he was revealed as the grandson of the famous one after a few eposodes, and they were all surprised.

I thought that too about the name being a lot to live up to comment - they didn’t know Avery was one of those Averies at the start!

Regarding the I win I think it’s just Jackson and April resident class merged with Meredith’s and then after the other ones got shot they all became one class/year? And Meredith is only one left now at Grey Sloan

They all did "boards" together didn't they? So the end of being residents.

This was all end of last season was it? Just shown on sky? Rather than brand new only in USA version. So not really spoilers.

She was wrong about the avery name though :o

I suppose she is thinking back 12/13 years? and yes she didn't know he was an avery on day 1 but they knew quite soon. So "when we met" probably just covers the first few months of getting to know him maybe.

Well she says ‘the first time I met you’. But then possibly she knew and didn’t say anything? That would be like her!

she probably was aware of the famous name and that that Avery's son had married and had a child who would be mixed race. so she may not know HIM but she may well be aware that an avery child existed from newsreports/interviews.
