Also I understand Matt's mum's concerns but her way of raising them by implying that Dan was "acting" was so negative and really reminded me of my mum!

Tbh she has met him in real life and maybe got a "feeling" about him. When she said it, I found myself agreeing with her, he does seem a bit fakey/all talk
Chicchicchicchiclana · 30/09/2021 09:45

I think Matt's Mum is too much and now acting a bit desperate. He's nearly 40 ffs.

Anyone else felt impatient with the way they eked out every possible drop of drama with the editing and the cliff hangers before each ad break (we were all manipulated to think Marylise was going to dump Franky and same with Dan to Matt) not to mention all the slow motion footage with dramatic music underneath. The music wasn't fitting at all to something as romantic as the supposed event.

I can’t put my finger on why Dan annoys me but it is like he’s acting - sometimes in his little speeches he sounds like one of he experts, as if he’s talking about something but it’s not happening to HIM if the at makes sense. Like he’s not the subject of it.
KimDeals · 30/09/2021 10:01

@mopdrop I like Jake too now. He’s nice! But they are fundamentally mismatched.

I feel a bit mean saying it but I dislike Amy. She is hard work.

Ughmaybenot · 30/09/2021 10:12

Ah I’m so annoyed 😂 I’m so behind on these threads/episodes so was so happy to see all 4 has actually been updated today.. only with last nights episode, not Monday or Tuesday. Ffs. It’s my day off today, I’m super pregnant and don’t want to do anything so had just planned on binging the ones I’ve missed (and binging this thread) 😭

Agree with this. Once your kids reach proper adulthood with careers, own homes etc it's time to butt out unless there's reason to think there is abuse happening. Being too opinionated on their private lives just risks them not wanting to tell you anything or seek advice.

The drama and cliffhangers that turn out to be nothing of the sort have really put me off to the extent I've lost all interest on how they play it out. That happened to me with the one Australian series I watched.

The music is overly dramatic at the 'committment ceremonies' which aren't ceremonies at all, they're just two badly dressed people standing alone in a beauty spot reading some cliched rubbish off cards.

I did think I caught some looks of real affection going on between Amy and Josh though, if just for now.

The thing is when your children grow up and become independent, it really doesn't stop you worrying about them and their relationships. Relationships don't have to be abusive to make someone unhappy . In the real world people try to keep out of it and just stay close enough to support if needed, but on this show, parents are canvassed and their opinions filmed. I imagine everyone on the programme regrets some of what they've said and that there's been a lot of pressure on them to give the producers what they wanted.

Siouxtse1 · 30/09/2021 10:40

Still no sign of any counselling for any of these people, either individually or as couples! Feel grubby for having watched it and won't be watching the next series because it's just so disappointing. I want to see more people actually getting a bit of romance and true love....

Shame on these so-called experts for just spouting out a load of soundbites and then bogging off to hide in the corner, rubbing their hands together with glee whilst the couples flounder around trying to salvage... whatever it is we've been watching...

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 30/09/2021 11:39

Aye

emmaw1405 · 30/09/2021 12:59

Marilyse is definitely 37 - her family won £2.5 million on the lottery in 1999 and she was 15 at the time.

I think this goes to show that fillers etc age people if they start too young.
JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 30/09/2021 13:12

That won't have gone far.

firealarmhell · 30/09/2021 14:11

This episode was so painful to watch, the slow mo walking and dramatic music. Christ.

I predict Adam will give Smug an engagement ring as the "missing" thing.

thenightsky · 30/09/2021 14:32

Last night's show had so little content it could have been all been fitted into 10 mins.

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 30/09/2021 14:58

Yep. They still have £20 of their £50 production budget left.

LagneyandCasey · 30/09/2021 15:33

It's been shit but I've invested so much time now I'll have to see it through to the bitter end.

How long until they start cropping up on Celeb Gogglebox and ruining it?

PurpleGooglyMonster · 30/09/2021 15:45

Is tonight the last episode?

Yes I fast forwarded through all he ridiculous slow-walking etc and it did indeed take around 10 mins to watch the episode.

Matt would make a good goggleboxer.

dearfanny · 30/09/2021 16:44

The fake cliffhanger speech from dan was just awful. Poor Take Matt. He looked 'generally' (as morag would say) scared for what the outcome would be for a moment.

Realistically, nobody would dump their partner like that. Unless they were evil and deserved it

JelliedHeels · 30/09/2021 18:05

@mopdrop

Matt's poor face when Dan was citing his reservations! He looked genuinely terrified. I love them both but I do think there's a slight power imbalance topped towards Dan- but I think you get that in most relationships and I do think Dan truly is smitten with him. I loved it when Matt was drunkenly going off on one at the dinner party and Dan was supportively nodding Grin.

Tayah is really irritating. Adam is dopey.

I've grown to really like Josh, I think he's very sweet and reserved, I think it's a shame that it probably won't work due to their age gap as they do seem to genuinely be fond of eachother after everything.

Agree about all these people. Seeing real affection between Amy and Josh. I think Adam and Smug have driven them together.

Worried about Matt, his Mum's not daft.

Does anyone remember in the Aussie one when the red headed cocky guy had been unfaithful to the dark haired girl and she went along with it until the final ceremony. She dropped him from a great height, he was very shocked and deserved it.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 30/09/2021 19:10

I also thought Josh was genuinely (not generally) very pleased to see Amy. And I agree that he comes across well for a young guy who is being portrayed as a player. But I do think Amy might dump him either because their life stages are too far apart (shame on the show for matching them) or because her hunger for fame put her on the show in the first place. I can't quite get on board with Amy being a sincere and spiritual person who really thought she could find a lasting relationship via this route. Maybe the same could be said for Josh too but somehow he seems less fake.
