I liked Katya and Nicola but that jive comparison is ridiculous - first off, it was their week 3 dance not week 1. Secondly, it actually landed them in the bottom two that week. Thirdly, it was the lowest scoring dance of all three dances they did before having to withdraw.
I suspect they would have had a week 4 bounce and probably got through to week 6, but the technique shown in that jive is not a patch on John's tango footwork.
We can argue that comparing styles: tango vs jive is like comparing apples vs oranges; such is the nature of the show. But there isn't an agenda where gays>lesbians here, there's really, really not.

should reword reading that back, sorry: I do not believe there is any preference shown for John/Johannes over Nic/Katya, based on the aforesaid both being gay as opposed to only Nic in that same sex partnership. John has more experience and is the better dancer and the points reflect that.
I loved Nic and Katya's return dance though and really wish she had been given a chance to return this series, given week 3 is not that far into the competition in any case.

I keep looking at the livestream science at different times of the day because I am a nerd. It is colour during the day and monochrome at night but was hugely busy this evening probably because champs de mars is not that far away.

I follow both Aljaz and Sara on Instagram and because of Sara's work schedule, they have been training from about 6am most days - Sara appears to be very much a morning person whereas Aljaz is very much not

From Aljaz's posts about struggling to be awake pre-6am on a regular basis he's not used to such early mornings so his body clock is probably still adjusting to the new routine ... add in being away from home (I never properly sleep soundly anywhere except my own bed) and he's probably knackered from being out of synch and needs a proper lie in.

So glad strictly isn’t back! Love Anton as a judge! The show had everything last night! Claudia’s bizarre choice of ahem outfits, Shirley taking no prisoners and Motsi talking about energy, the usual strictly madness! Craig actually gave some advice I agreed with!
Loved Johannes and John, my fav dance of the night, Dan was a lot better that I had expected too!
Didn’t enjoy Neil and partner thought she was heavy footed and didn’t enjoy the choreography think she can dance but didn’t enjoy this routine
Come on Sara loosen up those hips, she looked nervous last night so went a bit rigid I think
Greig is a bit of a luvie but I like him and liked the routine Karen was stunning as ever in that dress, her face at Shirleys comments said it all.

I quite liked Claudia’s outfit and loved her new make up style- that awful pale lip
Colour she wore last year didn’t suit her at all

I didn’t think I would like J&J but they were AMAZING!!! Bit confused as to which guy was supposed to be johns boyfriend though? I had assumed it was the one who was all smiley….but from reading this thread it appears not?

And as for AJ - wow!! Those legs go on forever.

Loving seeing Adam’s chest…..I’m not really a bottom fan so my attention was solely on his torso. Wow!

Tilly looked so nervous.

Sara was a bit half-hearted I think, I wasn’t impressed at all.

And Giovanni is as hot as ever so fingers crossed he stays in until the end purely so I have someone to ogle at every week.

Nina looks amazing for 52 and those legs!! Jealous

Have to say the couple i thought had best chemistry and was convinced they were at it was jay and aliona - he looked besotted with her at least

Didn't understand why Shirley commented on Greg using props week 1 - surely Ugo already had - drumsticks and then scarf ?

Loved AJ and Adam and Rose - we always vote for Joe Varney as DS met him when younger at train station & he was exceedingly lovely to him (even DH thought he was amazingly kind to nosy DS )

I'd be fine with them getting rid of Shirley if they wanted to bring back Bruno, but for years now I've wanted Erin on that judging panel. Come on, producers, imagine Erin sitting next to Anton. You know you want it.

I've just watched it this morning - thought it was an excellent opening show and actually thought everyone was great. Agree with everyone else - loved AJ, J&J and Adam. I want Adam to win as just love his achievements in the pool so would love him to win strictly too.

Also loved Rose and JV - he really is a great teacher.

Pleasantly surprised by Dan and also Tilly. Glad she didn't mention her dad. Poor Ugo having to bury his dad and then so that - really hope he stays in the competition.

I've never been an Anton fan as always think he makes a dick of his partners, even when they're good, but as a judge, thought he was great! Please keep him and don't bring back Bruno.

I don't think Bruno is coming back. Haven't heard mention of Anton only being there for 1 season.

Sorry but AJ is going to irritate the life out of me with her over the top persona and foghorn voice !

I was dreading Anton as a judge but was pleasantly surprised!

I like to think of Kai looking far older than his age as being down to an excess of testosterone. And, let's face it, if I were thirsting after Cameron and Nikita, I'd be handing myself into a police station.

I really enjoyed the show. Thought they all seem pretty good this year, no real stand out duffer.

Loved John and Johannes' dance. Also really enjoyed Adam's dance and AJ's. Was not expecting her to be that good.

John and Johannes do seem to be getting on very well but hoping it is just a good friendship rather than cheating on his partner/husband.

Thought Anton was good as a judge and marked fairly. Shirley was her usually erratic self and I felt the way she spoke to Greg was unnecessary and out of order. Not sure if she dislikes Greg as I know she dislikes Karen.

The judges are meant to be impartial and Shirley just isn't. Hate the way she pervs over the men too.

Yes Adam has a good body but she is old enough to be his grandmother and it makes for uncomfortable viewing. She should keep her pervy thoughts to herself.

Motsi was better last night. Nowhere near as loud as she can be and more sensible comments. Marking a bit odd at times though

Kai wouldn't look out of place on Peaky Blinders.. he's got that cockney rough air about him.

Thought AJ was brilliant, and i loved Ugo, think he and Oti look amazing together... very powerful them finally having a black couple dancing together like that... loved that he pointed out that Oti is a world class trainer as well as Dancer, she's amazing.

Adam Peaty.. well.. i think we all needed a cigarette after that.. wow.

I'm slightly concerned that Robert Webb is going to end up being the comedy turn, i hope they get him doing some serious dancing.
