Just tuned in- I love Prince Charles, he always seems so vulnerable- I think he's mis-understood.

Why is Princess Anne talking about Phillip in the present tense as if he's still alive, whilst everyone else is talking in the pst tense?

Because the filming for the program began before he died, it was a tribute for his 100th birthday. Some further interviews were done after his death.

EachandEveryone · 22/09/2021 21:32

I never meant to watch it yet here I am😃. I love Zara

Comedycook · 22/09/2021 21:34

Sorry to be a spoilsport but I'm finding it rather nauseating

SnottyLottie · 22/09/2021 21:41

It was lovely to see Lady Louise chatting about her grandfather with her parents. Is this her first official appearance (excluding weddings and funerals)?

RickySpanishhh · 22/09/2021 21:42

Trying to paint him as a champion of wildlife is nauseating. The man killed hundreds of tigers for sport.

EachandEveryone · 22/09/2021 21:47

Yes the hunting has riled me as well.

derxa · 22/09/2021 21:50

Here for the nasty comments.

Yogsgirl · 22/09/2021 21:50

They obviously live in a completely different world to the majority, but at the end of the day they have the same stories and sentiments as the rest of us.

Yes i think they are coming accross well.

BrilloPaddy · 22/09/2021 21:54

I think most of us would end up a little arrogant and entitled living a life of absolute luxury and privilege...............

His family adored him, that's very clear.

RickySpanishhh · 22/09/2021 22:00

They should have cut out Andrew and all the hypocritical preaching about wildlife. Apart from that, they did come across as a “normal” family that were actually very close.

How true. We're all human.
Endlesscleaning · 22/09/2021 22:02

Very complex interesting life

SorryPardonWhat · 22/09/2021 22:14

Only caught the last half hour but enjoyed seeing a family talk lovingly about the one they have lost. Especially loved the BBQ stories, mustard, Zara and Lady Louise.

Yogsgirl · 22/09/2021 22:18

There's no evidence of this- He is pictured with one tiger in the early 60s- at a time when tigers were routinely killed in India- no doubt a ceremonious act for their visit. Of course it was wrong, but lots of things that happened then were wrong in hindsight. As for fox hunting- well, I disagree with it, but in the circles within which the mix it is a popular opinion, even among conservationists.

What side is this on please.

Nahhh · 22/09/2021 22:27

It was a lovely show, the love they all felt for him was very evident.

It was also very evident to me that they’re still very unaware of their enormous privilege.

He killed 1000s of animals for fun not conservation. I may have been wrong about the number of tigers but he was still very bloodthirsty.

Iamthewombat · 22/09/2021 23:03

Who was cleaning up the mustard after Philip’s hilarious japes, I wonder? I doubt that it was him.

Surely the purpose of the programme is to say, “hey everyone! Don’t look at Andrew DON’T THINK ABOUT ANDREW look over here, look! We’re all reminiscing about this dear old cuddly great grandad!”

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/09/2021 23:44

Various appearances of Prince Andrew spoiling it.

Washeduponthebeach · 23/09/2021 09:15

I wonder why Kate didn’t take part. The other spouses did.

SuperSange · 23/09/2021 09:20

Yes, I thought |Kate might make an appearance. She knew him for about 20 years.

SnottyLottie · 23/09/2021 09:27

I think it was only the spouses of his children who appeared (so Camilla, Timothy and Sophie).

I imagine they thought there would be too many involved if they included grandchildren’s spouses and they didn’t want to be accused of favouritism by including Kate but excluding the others.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 23/09/2021 09:44

They should have ditched Andrew from it and kept his daughters.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 23/09/2021 10:34

It's very sad that it started off as a 100th birthday tribute and then turned into something entirely different. I thought it was very uplifting and they were clearly all devoted to him.

He seemed a very intelligent man and ahead of his time in many ways.
