Manhunt The Night Stalker

Really enjoyed this first episode, although obviously harrowing at times.
I was confused by two of the main characters looking so alike (Morgan and Eason) but wonder if they have done that deliberately because so far they have only gone on racial profiling to find the perpetrator (if the face fits, you're a suspect) so it's ripe for a case of mistaken identity?

I'm assuming that Martin Clunes comes up trumps and solves the case but for now my money is on Dave, whose only job this episode was to hold a door open, but it was worthy of a lingering camera shot...

The same thing?

Akire · 22/09/2021 21:19

I’m enjoying again but this is only second series and look like retiring him I hope that’s not it!

colouringindoors · 22/09/2021 21:24

Incredible Police operation.

NotMyCat · 22/09/2021 21:27

@SunShinesBrightly yeah Manhunt series 1

AuntieJoyce · 22/09/2021 21:45

For those with Sky I recommend The Real Manhunter with Colin himself. The night stalker episode is surprisingly gripping.

Akire · 22/09/2021 22:08

That was scary when he was in the house at least looked like he ran off. I’m glad live in flat that even police take 5min break in via sledge hammer. Cheers dodgy neighbours for knowledge!

I was worn out watch that run fair play to policemen having to do that on daily basis. Last one tomorrow!

colouringindoors · 22/09/2021 22:17

He outran a 24yr old police officer who ran a marathon every year.

And he'd been commiting these crimes for 17+ years.

Terrifying.

VolcanicEruption · 22/09/2021 22:35

This was creepy. A few years ago hubby was in hospital for a few days.
DS still at home but on a 2 day 2 night shifts and couldn’t get time off.
We always lock doors even when at home.
I was surprised we didn’t hear much about profiling and any explanation for the gaps. I don’t think it would be prison.
No one mentioned checking land registry, electoral register and anything else to provide a list of potential victims.

mum2jakie · 22/09/2021 23:03

@SunShinesBrightly both the first series and book by Colin Sutton are called Manhunt

NotMyCat · 22/09/2021 23:30

It must be good as I'm putting up with the shit ITV hub and a million adverts to get through series 1!

SunShinesBrightly · 23/09/2021 06:43

Thanks mum2jakie and NotMyCat
I’m going to start with series one tonight!

AnyFucker · 23/09/2021 09:02

ITV Hub is actually unwatchable, IMO

I did the weeks free trial with no ads which has made it ten times better! No buffering either thankfully
Akire · 23/09/2021 09:19

I pay the £3.99 month as well only have freeview TV but means watch all repeats and films with no ad! Highly recommend it.

3kidsareenough · 23/09/2021 13:55

Is that on Sky Crime AuntieJoyce?
I have to say I've totally forgotten that it's Martin Clunes that's in the role he is excellent. It's heartbreaking watching elderly people recounting what happened (and I know they're only acting) but god I was in bits watching that poor woman grabbing Martin Clunes arm to tell him what happened her Sad

The running scene was exhausting to watch

nancyonthebike · 23/09/2021 20:34

Brilliant. Just on the last ep now.
Wasn't neither here nor there about Martin until this, I'm now thinking he's played a blinder in this. Well done

nancyonthebike · 23/09/2021 21:05

Not last ep, I meant caught up ready for tonight's.

Akire · 23/09/2021 21:09

Come on get the bastard!

Akire · 23/09/2021 21:19

Anyone else keep seeing man on moped delivering pizza? Why are they looking at front when half time he climbs in through back lanes at the like?

TokyoSushi · 23/09/2021 21:31

🥳🥳🥳🥳

PermanentTemporary · 23/09/2021 21:39

Surreal!

Akire · 23/09/2021 21:44

15min left!

Pastryapronsucks · 23/09/2021 22:31

You know its a good drama when you feel knackered from tension. I am glad they didn't dwell on the gruesome details, but more the human aspects of the crimes, both on the victims and heir families.

I cant remember much of the actual case. I do hope he rots in prison

Akire · 23/09/2021 22:34

I don’t remember it either. I wonder if b. It was older people that it wasn’t really front page news. Wish they had explained the light bulbs and things but guess fine line between the victims and focusing to much on his side of things and glorifying it.

I was half expecting him die on way home in typical police retire style. Hope there is another one but guess can’t be that many cases like this. Just goes show you can have dramas when nothing much happens but still really tense and engaging. Well done ITV

JacquelineCarlyle · 23/09/2021 23:04

I agree @Akire - well done ITV (& Martin Clunes) for creating such an engaging drama that was very tense but didn't focus or glorify the crime in any way.

And bloody well done Colin Sutton - amazing detective! Thank you!
