Half way through episode 5, can’t see a topic on this yet. It was released yesterday. Anyone else watching? It’s gruesome but the character development is good and the mystery is just balanced to not be too agonising!

I’ve just watched the trailer and it looks great. I’m going to start it tonight.

It looks like such a good concept.

It is good. I don’t usually do gore or suspense, but it’s really interesting and the characters are well developed. I think it’s knowing what they’ve got to deal with outside makes what’s going on inside have some substance, rather than “ooh gore”.

I've watched the trailer and it's on my list to watch.

FrankButchersDickieBow · 18/09/2021 22:37

I've just watched the first one and am putting the second on straight away. Thought it was ace. Had me holding my breath? Willing people to cross the line!

Looks like it's going to be another fab kdrama!

FrankButchersDickieBow · 20/09/2021 00:03

On to episode 8 now. Amazing.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/09/2021 00:51

I finished it today, I look forward to you finishing it!

I read reviews on IMDB which said it’s boring because it’s slow and the games are so simple and compared it to other screen work which was more action and thrill. But I actually thought the marble episode was the best, and the games being simple allows the real content to shine - how different personalities behave, come together, trust and betray in those circumstances. I loved it.

Just finished it as well over the weekend! I liked it, good mix of characters and side-plots and the games were interesting.

I liked Alice in Borderland a lot too.

DeathOnTheNile · 21/09/2021 13:08

Really enjoying this so far! I'm up to episode 5 so I'm keen to see where it's all going. Very creepy and atmospheric and liking the characters too.

freshcarnation · 21/09/2021 19:48

I'm loving this

I got caught up in this last night. Very gruesome in places, but as others said the character development is good, and the premise is interesting.

Loving number 001, what a sweetheart, I hope he makes it to the end!

BakeOffRewatch · 21/09/2021 19:54

What a sweetheart indeed @viques

I finished this yesterday too really enjoyed it! Thought it was different and some things were unpredictable and I liked that. Hope there’s a second season.

FrankButchersDickieBow · 22/09/2021 22:38

Finished the season.

Loved it. There will definitely be a 2nd season I reckon.

Also seen a few tiktok videos referring to it so I think it's become quite popular rather quickly.

I cant tell you how many people I've recommended it to!

FrankButchersDickieBow · 22/09/2021 22:39

No spoilers but I didn't see any of the twists coming either. Unpredictable and fresh.

viques · 23/09/2021 01:02

Just finished series 1. Well set up for series 2. I was misled by several of the red herrings, though I did cotton onto one of them before it was revealed. Quite a few shocks along the way that I didn’t see coming.

freshcarnation · 23/09/2021 06:46

Wow. That was a brilliant series

BakeOffRewatch · 23/09/2021 08:57

Should I start a different thread for spoiler discussion? Would anyone be up for that?

I would lol

Yes I would love a spoiler thread. I’ve just binged this over two nights.

anxiouswaiting · 23/09/2021 14:54

We started watching last night on request of my teen son, we all found it a bit boring and turned it off - sounds like maybe we need to revisit it and have a bit more patience!

SirenSays · 23/09/2021 15:09

I'm watching this now, I liked the first game the best, the rest seemed to stray away from typical kids games.
I loved the battle royale movies and watch everything with a similar theme. I can't imagine how this ending will be any different or shocking though, so I'm bracing myself for disappointment.

DeathOnTheNile · 23/09/2021 15:46

Would be up for a spoiler thread too!

BakeOffRewatch · 23/09/2021 16:04

First episode is a lot of exposition to be fair @anxiouswaiting, I think it is worth it though because then you’re really invested in the games and the people and know them well enough to get the layers of what they do.

Ok made spoiler thread here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/4356837-SPOILER-DISCUSSION-Squid-Game-Netflix-Korean-Series

@SirenSays, I think they are more typical for Korean kids.

I have so many questions so excited about spoiler thread!

@SirenSays can you recommend some others? I've seen Battle Royale and Alice in Borderland and I guess Mazerunner is a bit in that genre.

Keen for more though!
