Can’t remember name of kids tv show.

Hello

I’ve been watching retro kids cartoons with DS, and trying to think of the name of a more reality/documentary style kids show from the early nineties. Each weekly episode, there was a kid, who was going to visit a country that their parents or grandparents were born in. The cameras followed them for their first visit, with the family member who left showing them around.

One show I remember was a young boy going to Jamaica where his dad grew up. He loved Jamaica, playing football on the beach and lots of outdoor adventures. He could not understand at all why his dad ever left, and that the move was ‘a better life’ in high rise London working long hours as a cab driver.

Another one I remember was a young boy going with his grandpa to China and being mortified that his grandpa ate a deep fried spider at food stall.

It was a great programme for giving you and insight into different cultures and lifestyles and I’d love to watch it with my DS, what we might find a bit ‘different’ and things that make you wish you could emigrate.

Can anyone remember it - what was it called?

No but it sounds great!

It was - the reactions of the kids made it. The boy in Jamaica was pretty upset/angry with his Dad 😂😂😂

would it have been afternoon tv, or bbc2 schools stuff n the morning? Remember our eldest in about 95/96 glued to a programme about how a Scandinavian girl got to school by ferry etc from her little island.

I think it was on a Sunday morning/early afternoon. I did think it might have been called 'rooted' but can't see anything online.
